This story was reported on Fox and Friends this morning.
Joshua Sparling just got to Walter Reed last week and received ONE letter from someone writing in a child's printing. Among other things it told him to die. The soldier has the card on the wall of his room. I know FReepers can counter this despicable action with some of our own letters.

Update: Since Joshua will undoubtedly be overwhelmed by America's response, please consider sending (instead of or in addition to Joshua) cards to these find troops:
Excerpt from Brian K. at FNC:
If you have the time, please try and include the others I met along with Col. North and Col. Hunt at Walter Reed:
Capt. James Ollinger
Sgt. Zavian Simspon
Specialist Brian Radke
Specialist Jason Braase
Sgt. David Nevins
Sgt. Jose Ramos
Cpl. Todd Bishop
Sgt. Ryan Donnelly
Sgt. Eva Diane Cochran
Joshua Sparling arrived at Walter Reed Hospital last month and the one card he got was from someone claiming to be a child who said, among other things, that he wished Joshua would die. Joshua needs to know how proud we are of him and how much we appreciate his sacrifices for our nation. E-mail Doug from Upland at the address on the post to which I am replying to find out how to send Joshua a real, honest-to-goodness, personalized greeting card this Christmas---right from your computer!
It looks like Soldier to me.
Another HSer having the kids draw pictures and make cards today.

freeper@verizon.net We still have a bunch to send out that three other FReepers generously helped fund.

I think the military is the wrong background to prepare for extended DUmpster diving ... line work in a sewage treatment plant would seem more appropriate.
ping for when I get home from work.
Hmmm. I think Susan Saranwrap and Tim "Chill Wind" Robbins have a least one young kid.
I agree with your sentiments. This year, instead of the usual donations to the Salvation Army, etc., we're giving to military organizations that help soldiers directly.
I'm also going to check Rush's web site because I like the adopt a soldier program that I've heard about which also seems to have the benefit of letting soldiers know they ARE supported by many of us here at home and keeping them updated on other news on the homefront.
My blood is boiling. Writing love and support to Joshua today.
I'm trying to find a print story on this incident -- of course, I'm not expecting one in the mainstream press, but do you know if any articles have been written on this??
Getting my kids to send Joshua a Christmas/Thank You card tonight.
Roger that ~ let's do it!
Will send a get well letter to him.
The card my 9yo son just made. Darn foggy eyes. BUMPING THIS THREAD AGAIN,
Get well/Thank You card to Joshua in the mail.
I didn't have any more Christmas cards at my desk.
