Warren Community College President Defends Professors Harassment of Young Conservative
Professor Admits Radical Diatribe
Student Fights Back
HERNDON, VA Young Americas Foundation exposed Warren Community Colleges radical Professor John Daly, who in an email to student Rebecca Beach, vowed to intimidate those students who host conservative speakers and called for American soldiers in Iraq to murder their superiors.
Instead of admonishing the professors intemperate attack on a students right of free expression, Warren Community College President William Austin said Prof. John Daly has first amendment rights to harass Rebecca. Furthermore, the President is trying to bully Rebecca into silence. He said Rebecca, not Prof. John Daly, is ruining the colleges name by going on talk radio and television exposing Dalys mean spirited email.
In an interview with the Express-Times, a local New Jersey paper, Daly stood by his email to Rebecca. He told the paper that Rebeccas conservative group is an ultra right-wing, possibly fascist, group.
Dalys email to Rebecca came after she sent a note to faculty announcing the appearance of decorated war hero Lt. Col. Scott Rutter to discuss Americas accomplishments in Iraq.
Dalys unedited email can be read in full below.
Prof. John Daly knowingly intimated one of his students. Thats not protected by the First Amendment, said Jason Mattera, spokesman for Young Americas Foundation. It was poor judgment to hire Daly to begin with. Warren Community College compounds their ineptitude by defending Dalys harassment of Rebecca.
Just another example of ignorance. Capitalism is system for allocation resources. Communism is this plus a political/social system. You can't place the blame for political decisions on an economic system. It should be pointed out that China, a Communist country, is partly engaging in capitalism so the two aren't even mutually exclusive. Likewise corporations are not a requirement of Capitalism, nor do large economic organizations devoted to making money exist only in a capitalist environment.
Thank you sir!
Given the apparent standards of contemporary academia, it would be my guess that most home schooled 12-year-olds are already schooled beyond the college level.
Let me think. Yes, it 's those capitalist pigs that murder their own citizens for dissenting against the government. It's capitalist pigs who have to build walls to keep everyone in.
This professor probably thinks we really didn't go to the moon, either.
A professor who favors fragging ought to get a taste of his own medicine.
It's gonna have another one from me!
I didn't spend a year of my life over there and lose friends to have some @sshole Socialist Junior College Ward Churchill wannabe demean what we're doing to HELP the people of Iraq.
How did America get so full of these monsters?
They will just give degrees to anybody now......
When is our side going to start getting mean? One of the reasons these folks as so bold and brazen is because we, as a culture, failed to shout them down at earlier junctures in their lives.
Now they are monstrous, with no regrets.
We really need to start ruining careers, cleaning out their life savings with legal fees, winning their precious homes in lawsuits, busting up their families from the stress, see to it that their wives are seduced by hunky guys on our payroll to cause damage to their family unit, blacklist their children, etc.
Our side is just too nice, which is a nice way of saying too weak.
I noticed that too. How nice of a "public" institution.

Biographical Profile
B.A., Kean University
M.A., California State University at Northridge (magna cum laude)
Professor Daly received his MA in Linguistics from California State University , Northridge in 2000. John enjoys teaching writing most of all, aside from his interests in socio-linguistic theory. His 12 years experience working in public health research adds another dimension to his interests. His research background translates into years of hands-on experience in writing research documents and papers in the professional world. Two video-workbook collections that he produced and wrote have won awards and are currently used by the Canadian Department of Health. Often linguists do not use their skills to teach grammar and writing, but Professor Daly finds that linguists have a special view on language that may help studentsparticularly students who have had trouble in these areas in the past. English courses generally are taught from a rule-based perspective. Students become overwhelmed with these rules and often find the exceptions make them impossible to manage. Linguistics view language from a descriptive point of viewthat is they understand language in the same way you might organize a sock drawby dumping the contents on the ground and seeing what goes together until finally ending up with a super-efficient drawer (or deeper understand of grammar and writing). Students often respond to this approach.
If this is a public school, the web site should be open to the public. I would think it would be reasonable for either the State or Congress (as appropriate) to require this of any educational facility receiving public funds.
You have an unerring eye for pleasing design.

Professor defends position on ending the war in Iraq Campus controversy. U.S. using Middle East as a "profit source," adjunct faculty member claims.
Friday, November 18, 2005
By SARA LEITCH The Express-TimesA part-time professor at Warren County Community College stands by some controversial comments he e-mailed to a student there that have raised eyebrows around the country. John Daly, an adjunct English professor, said Thursday he believes the war in Iraq will end only when American soldiers turn their guns on their commanders. "The only possible end for the war is not going to be from our politicians, who represent corporations," Daly said. "We're going to stay in Iraq and occupy the Middle East as a profit source that will only change when the students at WCCC who are sent there to die for oil profits decide they're not going to die there." Daly said he was a member of International ANSWER, an anti-war group. He e-mailed WCCC freshman Rebecca Beach on Sunday, responding to her request to tell his students about a campus visit by retired Lt. Col. Scott Rutter. Daly's message eventually reached conservative broadcaster Sean Hannity, who read it Thursday during his nationally syndicated radio program. Rutter, now a Fox News commentator, spoke Thursday about his experiences in Iraq as a battalion commander in the first and current wars in Iraq, and on the way the media report on Iraq. Beach, a pre-law and political science major, founded the WCCC chapter of Young Americans for Freedom, a national conservative activist group. The group has about 15 members, Beach said. The group used $1,000 in student activities fees to bring Rutter to campus. The Young America's Foundation, which brings conservative speakers to college campuses, co-sponsored Rutter's talk. "The administration at WCCC believes Rebecca Beach is an innocent student acting alone, but I recognized her literature right away as being part of a national right-wing movement," Daly said. "Her group is an ultra right-wing, possibly fascist, group." Beach, who said she has never met Daly, said she invited Rutter to campus as part of her group's celebration of Freedom Week, which commemorates Veterans Day and the toppling of the Berlin Wall on Nov. 9, 1989. She said she was shocked by Daly's message. "We were just celebrating and raising awareness," Beach said. "We want free speech and tolerance, and they want it for themselves and not for others. That's just utterly ridiculous." Reporter Sara Leitch can be reached at 908-475-8044 or by e-mail at sleitch@express-times.com. |
Go get em boys....
I gotta figure out the time difference here in Korea.
The only bad part of it will be watching stupid Alan Colmes try and defend the Prof's "freedom of speech".
*blech*
Quit putting up with this @$*#! Lynch all traitors!
Not the answer. We need to teach our kids to stand up to this crap . . . and have their backs when they do.
". . .is so "open-minded" that his grey matter has already fallen out of his cranium."
I rather doubt that. I assure you it seeped out of his anus.
My message to Mr. Austin:
Who is this fool John Daly you have on your staff, and why does he call himself "Professor?"
