WASHINGTON (AP) - Two crucial pillars of President Bush's public support - perceptions of his honesty and faith in his ability to fight terrorism - have slipped to their lowest point in the AP-Ipsos poll.
While the CIA leak investigation, the mishandling of Hurricane Katrina and high energy costs have all taken their toll, the polling found the Iraq war at the core of Americans' displeasure with the president.
All of those concerns are cutting into traditional Bush strengths.

Polls like this simply reinforce the notion (for those of us with a clue) just how utterly stupid the general masses are. It's truly a Jay Leno man-on-the-street world out there.

"Poll: Most Americans Say Bush Not Honest"
This American Says Most Polls Not Honest
Hee hee.
Typically these polls have at least a 10 point sample size in favor in the dems. A typical sample size of 401 'adults' might be, 36% dems, 25%, republicans, 35% independants. Go troll your talking points elsewhere.
Just to add to the media polling bias, here is the recent history of the "ever-reliable" AP/Ipsos polls (January - November 2005) and their political Party ID sample composition for each poll. The AP/Ipsos polls push Independents to identify with either Republicans or Democrats, only the 'hard-core' remain as self-identified 'Independents'...
This is an mixed ADULTS and Registered Voters poll, not just registered voters. Note the consistant gap in the party ID between Democrats and Republicans, strange given the the 2004 Presidential Election exit polls identified 37% Republicans, 37% Democrats and 26% Independents among the voting American public. The Republicans have achieved voter self-indentification parity with the Democrats for the first time since the late 1920s.
This series of AP/Ipsos poll result on Presidential job approval and the American public views on the 'direction of the country' was as always based on a skewed demographic sample that averages 41% Republican, 49% Democrat and 10% Independent composition. I think that when the AP poll fails to get the results they desire, they 'play' with both the registered voters composition and vary the un-registered voter portion of the poll sample. Since the Registered voter portion of the poll averages around 78% and the 'breathing' voter averages around 22% you can see they have quite a bit of "statistical slack" to play with to get the results they require...
Note: The AP/Ipsos polls are published in PDF format and become unavailable after one month. You must be a 'premium' member to access those PDF files on their web site. No consistant links are provided for that reason.

The RATs have hated Bush from day 1, except right after 911 when Bush had a 90% + rating.
The reason for the drop in the polls is ALWAYS wrong, when the MSM authors the story. The true reason for the drop in the polls is that conservatives are fed up with Bush. It is not the "middle" or nonsnese like that. It is the true conservatives, hardcore Republicans who have thrown the towel in on Bush.
Bush is pretty honest for a politician. More so than all of the Dems, and 85% of the Rats in Congress. He makes some mistakes, but is a good man.
I say this is a dishonest poll, agenda driven and predetermined outcome oriented. But then I'm just a stupid "average person" type, no one ever polls me, never!
I believe the only one other way to take a poll except on election day is to only POLL registered Republicans [for a Republican] or registered Democrats [for a Dim].
It is as newsworthy and reflective of opinion as the BIASED polls taken in this day and age.
Is the sample not random, they ask the questions and then ask the demographics?
What we had from Mapes this morning during an interview with E.D. Hill on Fox and Friends, is this exchange on the definition of "authenticate"......(This is a CC transcript that GRRRR provided.
E.D.: You had the three cbs authenticators, who said no, i quo not authenticate thaT. What happened?
>> This is what is difficult about iT. We tossed the word around authenticate and there's a legal meaning to it and then there's the kind of thing you and i would talk about. Legally authenticate means 100%, which would be an ink test or something like that. You can't do that on a copy and i always knew that and what i felt we had to do was rely on the information much more than the very subjective profession of document analysiS.
Every poll I've taken, they ask about you, then decide if you 'fit' their profile.
>>>If anyone is wondering why I posted this, I'm just curious as to what you guys have to say about it.<<<
If you had half-a-brain you would have, at the very least, mentioned that the DNC and their Main Stream Media propaganda machine have been lying about Bush continuously for more than five years. Alternately, you would have appended a "(Main Stream Media Poll Alert!)" to the end of the title line.
Yeah, like Zogby, eh?
I think if they polled a little deeper they would find that americans aren't that happy with gov't in general. Especially congress
" the mishandling of Hurricane Katrina"
I'm sick of this charge being leveled and no one calling anyone on it. Could things have been handled better? I'm sure. But it wasn't the total screw up the MSM and the Dems like to claim!
I'd say he's honest to a fault.
He means what he says and does what he says. I think he tries to play by the rules and it's eating him alive.
The dimwitted Democrats have launched barrage after barrage and only TODAY have we seen a response.
GWB made a mistake by trying to fight a war in Iraq without mobilizing the country for war. Within a week after 9/11 videos of the burning WTC was pulled, speeches were made to pacify American anger at the Arab world. Our borders were never closed. GWB placed his faith in his military to wrap up the war in Afghanistan and Iraq without the need to whip up nationalism and patriotism. Reason for this tactical blunder. IMHO GWB is a globalist. The last 30 years our institutions try to eliminate our borders to prepare our society for a large free trade zone. Our elites have spent many years to eliminate patriotism and replace it with global multi culturalism. This war may re establish nationalism, which is a barrier to the long term objectives of free trade/globalism. If you do not whip up patriotism, then our left and the negative MSM will define the war for the public. The worst case scenario has emerged, our military progress is slower than originally anticipated, and it allowed the unopposed left and MSM to revive itself to undermind our military successes. Even if GWB policy survives this onslaught, future Presidents will hesitate to fight wars because the political risks are too great. Worst, our enemies will misread US as being weak and it will embolden them. One of the most important lessons from Vietnam War is that you do not win a war by committing an army to war, you win by committing a nation to war.
