And now you know why so many are bailing on this state...even if it means leaving it to the illegal aliens (which Ahhnold will do nothing about).
I always call California the liberal petri dish.
All conservatives should move and just leave that mess to the dogs...

I believe that if a million more people got off their apathetic rears and voted, then we would have seen a different end to the props. But, perhaps like you, they felt their vote wouldn't make a difference...a very disappointing decision. I have to wonder how many people you influenced to *not* vote. If people choose to hide their heads in the sand and eat worms they have no right to complain about the way things turn out. Period. Very disappointing.
Oh if that all happens then this state will be in BK by 09!
Once more we are reminded never to underestimate the power or the campaign war chest of the unions. And it doesn't help that California voters are lazy simpletons. How could anyone vote themselves a tax increase?
do you have a real estate transfer tax in CA yet? long island has one of those, so many people selling their homes and pulling out, the local geovernment essentially taxes (takes) a portion of your home equity when you go to sell it as people try and get out.
hey, at least the people there got to vote directly on these decisions - that's more then people in most states can say.

An opposition minority vote, at the very least, weakens the mandate of the winning vote. I'd rather lose by a tenth of a percent than by 10 percent, if I have to lose. Then at least there's a sense of hope.
that map is for prop 76 not for all the props.

This confirms my 'poison pill' theory. Before the recall, I argued myself blue in the face that recalling Davis would be a disaster for the R's. Schwartznegger would be completely unable to govern CA, given the composition of the legislature, and given the cosa nostra of public employee unions that run the legislature. But any failures in CA would be blamed by the Old Media there on Schwartznegger. Responsibility for the state's problems would be diffused in the public's eye.
I give him credit for trying. He came closer than I thought he would. But without 75, the State is doomed. And 75 was never going to pass with the money the cosa nostra was going to spend.
Sadly, the only remaining strategy is twofold:
* We have to admit that California is completely lost for at least a generation. We also know that the dems cannot be given the steering wheel without crashing. So our strategy should be to make it unambiguous to even the stupid people that the Dems are driving (since they are anyway).
So let the dems have the state and crash it hard. It shouldn't take too long.
A public resignation by Schwartznegger, accompanied by a clear statement that the unions and dems have made the state ungovernable and its problems are unsolvable until Californians want to solve them would have the salutory effect of moving the R's to the backbench and clearly putting the blame where it belongs for the coming disaster in CA.
* Quarantine the rest of the country against the cancer that is there.
1,000,000????
Hardly!
Check those numbers again on Prop 73, 74 & 75.
Less than 500,000 votes on all of them.
But, since you couldn't be bothered....you helped those pass. Thanks for nothing.

As soon as I saw Prop 73 turn last night, I went to bed. This is too depressing. Remember the "recall" election? We were told "the tide is changing in CA!" Republicans are coming back!
WHO thinks it's a bad idea to notify parents their daughters are having abortions? Prop 73 isn't to STOP the abortion, just to notify them. Personal responsibility is shunned: we can't have the kids OR THE PARENTS facing theirs.
What a horrible joke. I never planned on living in this state forever, but now I am certain we will speed up our move out of here. Between the failure of Prop 73 alone (not to mention 74, 75, 76, 77), and the 9th Circuit this past week basically saying that parents have no right to influence their children with their religious views (because apparently government schools are the new, REAL parent), I want no part of this state.
I can't wait until parents are arrested for taking their children to church on Sundays.
When I woke up to the results this morning, I said exactly the same thing to my husband...he should resign, why should he even bother...let California rot...let the smart money move out of the State and just let it rot and hit rock bottom, like Arizona did a decade ago. Then they'll see what cuts really mean. I'm so disgusted, but glad I got out of that State when I did.
"How could anyone vote themselves a tax increase?"
I can't help but wonder whether there are a lot of foreign, leftist voters in California now? I feel bad enough about Virginia not having a truly conservative party and being used as an example of 'conservatism failing'. But this California vote is a bad sign. Or is this a smack at Bush more than at Arnold? Or is this just money talking?
