Sen. John McCain admitted Tuesday morning that he has anger management issues, confessing that it's a problem he's had to work on for many years.
"I constantly, throughout my career, have had to work on getting angry and frustrated and losing my temper," McCain told Fox News Channel's Brian Kilmeade, who was filling in on Tony Snow's radio show.
"I'm happy to say that I've managed almost always not succumb to that problem," the top 2008 presidential contender explained.
But McCain said his temper was particularly raw after he lost the GOP presidential nomination to President Bush five years ago.
"I was in a very bruising campaign and, as you know, politics is not beanbag," he told Kilmeade. "At first I was angry and thought I'd been unfairly treated and all that kind of stuff. I was feeling sorry for myself. You know, it's a lot of fun to feel sorry for yourself." "But after a couple weeks," said McCain, "I worked very hard not to look back in anger and not to hold a grudge."
"By the way, Americans don't like sore losers anyway," he reminded.
Trying to recall other instances where his temper had flared, McCain said:
"There's many others that - I'm sure my children could tell you [about] a large number of them better than I can. So you just keep working and you keep trying to emulate people you admire."
"I still have many failings," the Arizona maverick concluded

Polls. McCain and Giuliani top every Republican in every 2008 poll so far except for Condi of course. Other Republicans poll in the single digits if at all.
I considered my speech before the Town Board "successful" based on the fact that I didn't jump the podium and strangle "the arrogant one".
Sooner or later both McCain and Kristol must realize McCain will never be President or VP.

He and Powell showed up together a couple of weeks ago. Now that's a ticket no one could pass up. I hate them both, but most people love Powell and this respected retired statesman and general who is also a black man would be fine Presidential material. We'll see.
I have anger issues with McCain, too--he usually ticks me off. I've found the best way to manage this anger is to vote against him. However, I'm not given enough opportunities to do so.
Powell already said a long time ago he will NOT run for president.
Well, there was that one time I kicked dirt on my wife's shoes when we were having an argument in the front yard.
...and the front porch was cleared and the kids started pummeling me and I realized whose side they were on.
Yeah, it stablizes everything but the skin on your back. The skin flareup is awful.
Why do I get the feeling .'he's got our message,' and he is trying to appeal to our sense compassion [/sarcasm] and get back on our good side of the conservative forces???

He will have to do many years of penitence for me to ever consider voting for the MOTHER OF ALL RENEGADES, for anything!
That was a good thing for him to say right now. He's running.
I have to be honest...I don't like John McCain. Don't trust him one bit! I would like to know why he's always referred to as a "maverick"? Is it because he's really a Rino??
When I see John McCain, I always think of the Machurian Candidate!!
If the Republican Party puts up McCain-Guilani or Mccain-Powell, there is no way I will vote for them. And as far as I'm concerned it'll be the "death nail" for the party as well because I believe the loss of support from conseratives will be too much to overcome for either of those combos to win. The Republican party has become what the Democrat party used to be. It'll be time to start a new conservative party. In fact, it already is.

Well the Republican party is splitting and has been since the 2004 elections. McCain I think sees this and is going to take advantage of the split. I'm not saying he is going to win but if he runs a Democrat might just win in 2008.
