just breaking!!!!!!!!
I haven't been "incivil" with her. I turned against her slowly when it became she was neither qualified nor particularly conservative.
The 1993 speech released last night was the last straw.
how "common" do you want a person representing 11% of one entire branch of government to be?
What has gone on on this forum in the past weeks has been shameful, billbears.
The ability to air grievances and discuss them is a key difference between us and the Left, which brooks no dissent.
I'd like to think you're right, but they have pilloried Clarence Thomas and Condoleeze Rice.
You are exactly where I am -- I was more than willing to keep the powder dry until I saw some of her writings and heard about some of her Senate interviews.
My serious doubts surfaced after that.
Spunky, you are hollering in the house again. Go pick me a switch. This resignation has nothing to do with speeches, and everything to do with seperation of powers.
If the president supports the base who elected him they will go to the mat for him if he nomintes a candidate the left dislikes.... unlike if he nominates a weak candidate to keep from having to fight with the left.
Greetings, fellow "reactionary cohort."
"You people have set the Constitution and the founder's vision on its head."
I guess I missed the part that said we weren't allowed to criticize.
Regardless of how "hard" it was for you, you weren't willing to let the PROCESS work.
You joined the group that "borked" this woman.
Only divine guidance will help him see what needs to be done now. It is a humanly impossible situation that he has been placed in.
Sure we did, some of 'em. We also allowed trolls both a wedge to fit in with and a demonstration of how to 'eat our own'. This has been a good thing only for our opponents and enemies.
I'm glad someone else noticed that as well (some are sicker than others). "The Base" Kinda catchy, isn't it?
Welp, this is good news, but I'm going to reserve my celebration until we hear who he nominates next. I see no reason to get excited given his past track record on appointments. I've already been let down once, I'm not going to set myself up for that again.
What other agendas? As much as I think the anti-Miers folks were wrong to attack a nominee by our own party, I don't doubt for a second their desire for an originalist on the SCOTUS, in fact, that is what was driving their actions.
Kind of like Festivus. When do the "feats of strength" start?
"W is now perceived as severely weakened and wounded. His enemies will move in for the political kill"
It doesn't take a political genius to see that if you raise the white flag like he did on this nomination that you are sending a message of weakness and begging your enemies to circle. What's worse, by choosing appeasement, he alienated his allies as he begged the enemy to close in.
I wonder when people are going to realize that the much heralded political genius in the WH may not be as great as they thought....
