ACLU: 21 Killed in U.S. Custody
Fox News ^ | October 25, 2005

At least 21 detainees who died while being held in U.S. custody in Iraq and Afghanistan were killed, many during or after interrogations, according to an analysis of Defense Department data by the American Civil Liberties Union (search). The analysis, released Monday, looked at 44 deaths described in records obtained by the ACLU. Of those, the group characterized 21 as homicides, and said at least eight resulted from abusive techniques by military or intelligence officers, such as strangulation or "blunt force injuries," as noted in the autopsy reports. The 44 deaths represent a partial group of the total number of prisoners who have died in U.S. custody overseas; more than 100 have died of natural and violent causes.

The world most likely thinks the same things about us when prisoners are killed in U.S. custody that we think about others who kill captured Americans.

I don't care what the world thinks. I care what Americans think.

" I don't care what the world thinks. I care what Americans think."

That's how we get a go it alone foreign policy. It would be great if we didn't want other nations to cooperate with us 10 times a week.

I would think the muzzies are doing exactly what it is they do...kill, interrogation or no interrogation.

"I would think the muzzies are doing exactly what it is they do...kill, interrogation or no interrogation."

And threrfore I completely support the war against terrorism.

My point only has to do with selecting the strategy for that war that most benefits U.S. interests.

Actually that was MY opinion, not our foreign policy.

The other foreign countries chose sides and many went for the oil money from Saddam. Don't act so noble -- the other nations all have their hands out waiting for something in return. They are not all that honorable.

Geesh man, the ACLU INTERPRETED the data and stated 21 people were murdered. I call bullshiite like everything else they do and say.

Believing this report is the same thing as stating "Ginsberg honestly interprets the U.S.Constitution when reviewing cases before the Court." It's a ridiculous statement, lies is all these people know.

You don't get it do ya. The MSM and Foreign press will spin anything we do to the negative, even the most benevolent endeavors will be portrayed as malevolent. An if it too hard to spin, they just wont report it. Besides I would rather the enemy fear us, its better for war.

Here is an idea. We should get some serious Video and CGI wizards to put together a twisted propaganda piece. e.g., A bunch of AQ types wrapped in pig skin, and then dropped in pigs blood, buried alive with their ass facing mecca. All fake of course, but the enemy doesn't need to know that. If the MSM and foreign press are going to make up lies about us, it might as well be something really good.

[I]f American champions of civil liberty could all think in terms of economic freedom as the goal of their labors, they too would accept “workers’ democracy” as far superior to what the capitalist world offers to any but a small minority

The "workers' democracy" has failed miserably every time it has been tried, it doesn't work.

I saw something on BBC last night where Chinese communist leaders are catching women violating the one child per family rule and forcefully aborting their babies, some during their eighth month of pregnancy.

I am properly skeptical of the report. That's why I used phrases like "died in custody" or "died during interrogation" and did not use words like "torture or murder."

1. I believe that position is too negative. If it were true, we wouldn't get any cooperation at all while in fact we get some cooperation all the time.

2. I don't think it makes them fear us in the sense of giving up because they are fearful. I think it makes them fear us being in charge so they want to avoid anything that promotes our influence.

Well sure... that would help us keep the peace in Afghanistan with only a small force and encourage Pakistan to work with us and convince the Shiite majority in Iraq that we really have Iraq's best interest at heart... /friendly sarcasm.

I believe in peace in the middle east.

With 6 or 7 100 Megaton thermal nuclear devices. There now there is peace, not even the sound of a locust.

Are we getting enough intelligence info to justify making the world think we are the same?

Possibly.

The ACLU is not a trustworthy source. We don't know the circumstances. I'm not about to step out front and criticize soldiers based on what an ACLU investigation concludes.

And what the rest of the world thinks really doesn't bother me. The rest of the world is filled with communists and those who believe that the Islamofascists would play nice if we'd only give them Israel.

I can't get alarmed about this.
