Freeh probably agreed to debut on 60 minutes, and honored that agreement. He can do the shows next week after it all spills out.

After all, the Pubbies do have the votes; If you consider the RINOS and the gang of 14 I'm not so sure they do have the votes. The WH supposidly spoke with 80 senators. I can easily see at least 4 0r 5 RINOS not willing to go along with the "big fight".

I notice that the democrats are busy trying to keep the GOP dissension pot stirred.
Any statements by people like Mikulski, Reid, or Leahy should simply be ignored.
And now that we have heard from all the pundits, what is their excuse for still appearing and griping? Apparently some of them (Frum, Kristol, and Krauthammer) want to force the withdrawal of this nomination. That would be very bad.
And if Bill Kristol thinks that the White House is going to dance to his tune, he is really living in a dream world. I imagine that these pundits are unaware that President Bush has a long memory, and does not appreciate insults to his friends. He specifically asked for a dignified nomination process, and people who are supposed to be on our side are doing their best to make the entire party look like fools.
They have expressed their displeasure. It is time to be quiet and wait for the hearings.

Who exactly are the Conservatives who are praising the Miers selection?
To: Bahbah
Brit Hume has class and common sense, a great combination. He doesn't play to the crowd with theatrical over-the-top statements and always seems very well-informed.
I have admired him for years and it's lucky for us he's around to balance the hysteria the punditocracy is caught up in right now.

That is the standard response to any of us who stick up for the President.
Usually it takes the form of calling us Bushbots. The remark to you about worship and God was beyond the pale.
It is a shallow and tacky argument.

Juan Williams is talking from Democrat talking points, where race trumps rational thinking. But, race is a red herring since a black or Hispanic conservative is not acceptalbe to them.

Before these Sunday morning dog & pony shows are over Harriet Miers will probably wish she had bird flu I disagree, she and GW are probably getting quite a chuckle from the temper tantrums of the DC beltway silver spoon right wing media.

Thanks for one good post! I know exactly what your speaking of...and I bet it did feel like a kick in the ass.
That kind of racial pandering and projection just does not cut it....ANYWHERE. It is insulting, demeaning and revolting.

(Michael Schiavo LIED about having a college degree on his guardianship application,)
Liasson was just saying, before the break, that stalwart Bush supporters [paraphrased] like Bill Kristol, are speaking from the heart about their objections to Miers.
I might be wrong, but didn't Bill Kristol support someone other than Bush during one of the last two presidential elections?
If so, I wouldn't call Bill Kristol a stalwart Bush supporter.

So when do we ever nominate a strong constitutionalist to the Supreme Court? If now is not the time, what will make it so at any later time?
My concern is that President Bush has decided that Ms. Miers is as strong as any nominee will ever be. It only goes downhill from here. No one with a paper trail need apply. And just how strong is Bush's bench of stealth candidates who he just happens to know their hearts and minds?
If not now, when? If not us, who?
This is not a question of winning without a fight. To those of us who have waited a lifetime for a properly constituted court, this is losing without a fight. And pacifism in defense of the Constitution is not an attractive quality.
To: syriacus
Oh, that's enough!!!! I am going to go find my discussion of Bill Kristol's long history of causing trouble for Republicans and post it here! Stalwart supporter indeed!
Back in a minute!!

Great catch Ernest!!
This is indeed a brilliant thread and a format for every country in the world that has the problem of terrorism.
Here is a quote I really liked.
"Another important matter in defeating terrorism is to give every Iraqi a stake in the country."
This is brilliant way to establish a new country by the new leaders in Iraq.
Those who say this war is a mistake need to read this thread.
