Yes, our fellow conservatives who are always itching to pick a fight with the Left {like Limbaugh} invariably assume we'd win each fight. Well, we don't. {The Government Shutdown comes to mind.} These conservative pugalists conveniently forget about Snowe, Collins, Specter, Chafey, et al. And they never project ahead and consider the damage a {needless} loss would incur.
Kristol says GW picked Miers out of an excess of personal loyalty. I DON'T believe that.
Yes the brilliant David Frum was featured on CNN's Reliable sources along with Gloria Bloger and Frank Rich.
CNN's version of "fair and balanced". < sarcasm on >
David Broder chatting about that with Fat Tim right now.
He made a herculean mistake by nominating this woman.
I also feel there may well be a fight to get her confirmed.
Bill Kristol's life mission is to stick it to the Bush family whenever possible. He has been busy doing so since 1988, and I don't think he is going to change any time soon.
What's the deal with Berglar now? I read somewhere that his parole was revoked after the speeding incident, but the media has been (not so) strangely quiet.
Was he drinking? drugging? has the parole been revoked.
And...will 60 minutes ask him anything about all that?
Brit very gently tells Kristol he's out of touch with reality.
Buchanan has a following in the paleo-con group, if you subscribe to all the different labeling of conservatives. Very nationalistic to a fault.
Good for Brit! I will tune in to FNS this afternoon just to hear that!
.... I learned recently via Stanley Kurtz at National Review that Miers sad she wouldn't belong to the Federalist society, and that she helped shape W's racial preferences stand because she once said that standing up for individual rights is political, while race preferences are somehow apolitical and safe.
Would either of the above bother you?
"Maybe Fox can send Kristol and Geraldo away together. They deserve each other."
And take sissy matthews with them.
If only I'd paid more attention to local politics, I might have remembered her from her stint on the Dallas City Council.
Also she went to SMU. Amusing that all the snobs are calling this a second-rate school. Around here it's considered elite. It's private and very expensive. And there are so many good state schools one can go to relatively cheap: UT, Texas Tech, A&M, UNT, for example.
I think we should wait for the hearings and see how she answers the questions.
Before these Sunday morning dog & pony shows are over Harriet Miers will probably wish she had bird flu.
Krystol: she should remove her name ... BAH!
Brit: If W flinched, it was when he decided it had to be a woman or a minority and narrowed the field.
He was racing over to the Whitehouse to warn Leandro Aragoncillo:

But he was too late.
They're all solid but Frum's commentary on Miers is the best IMO.
