Ann Coulter just took apart President Bush's SCOTUS nominee on the air during her appearance on the Mike Rosen show here in Denver on 850am KOA. She called for listeners to write their senators to oppose the nomination. Wish you could have heard it!
Ann said - "Totally unqualified", called Judge Roberts "a 'dream' candidate in light of this nomination", mentioned "cronyism" over and over. Much more that I'm trying to digest. I called the station to see if they saved the audio, but no luck on that. Mike Rosen was just about speechless as Ann went on and on about why this was a lousy choice.
I agree with Ann. Huge mistake and missed opportunity.
Ann's choice, Janice Rodgers-Brown. Not enough intestinal fortitude in the White House to go with that choice.
Can't wait for Ann's column on this nomination later this week.
Yeah, I heard both interviews. She was much more animated during Rosen's show this morning. I think she was more 'controlled' with Sean because of her frequent guest status on radio and H & C.
;~D
IMO, she's positioning herself so that she remains relevant in the media....because she sure hasn't been hammering out many columns as say, Mark Steyn.
The Miers pick has divided us like no DU troll ever could. Bush should be zotted for this.
(sarcasm)
>She is not a happy camper with this nomination<
Ann makes her living being an unhappy camper. If she stops saying outragous things she will be yesterdays news. She ceased being an advocate for the cause a year ago.
It's starting to sound like it's "Us versus Ann." "Burn her at the stake!"
Yes I have to admit it was a cheap shot, but there is the age old adage of giving someone "a taste of their own medicine".
Speaking of qualifications, I wonder if Coulter was ever the first woman on the state bar of Connecticut (her home state), or headed a law firm in Connecticut. I know she went to law school, but then again, so did Harriet Miers.
>Conservatives supported Thomas even before he came before the Judiciary Committee following Anita Hill's allegations.<
Anita Hill made an eleventh hour claim when it looked like he was a sure thing.Conservatives supported him because he was the great Black Hope.
Fine .. Ann doesn't have to like this pick
But I would like to hear a reason other then we don't know anything about Miers?
THAT is not a reason to throw this pick out the window
How did that one turn out?
I didnt catch Rush today...but what we both are saying is reasonable...seems logical.
IMO some conservatives are psyching themselves out...in not thinking that you can WIN with the public on the battlefield of ideas. Theres a fine line between pragmatism...and cynicism.
I say fight....the line in the sand is the SCOTUS...it always has been for conservatives..AND...leftists too.
If we cant win with the team we have..lets get some new players. Better to find out while we are still in the game.
Revenge against who exactly?
Surely she doesn't believe Bush is the sort of person who would propose a justice (his friend, employee, assistant) out of spite.
What was Coulter's undergrad major? Meirs is Math, very analytical and difficult.
OMFG!
Is THAT what the Bush-Bot talking points are reduced to? What was her UNDERGRAD in?
Never mind that she was a DEMONRAT, right? Never mind that she DONATED to the DNC 3 DAYS before the Bush-41/Dukakis election?
Geez!
"Do I hear a second?"
Amen
Revenge against whom?
Right. There's an instance where Conservatives were all on the same page. I'm talking about the Thomas' confirmation hearings, a whole different kettle of fish.
"I would rather think a large percent of the base sees this for what it is. A very big slap in the face."
How so, exactly?
...she became a litigator with the Center For Individual Rights in Washington, DC, a public interest law firm dedicated to the defense of individual rights with particular emphasis on freedom of speech, civil rights, and the free exercise of religion. A litigator is someone who argues cases in court, something Miers never has done.
Sorry I don't have the exact cases Ann worked on or argued for, but I do know that in Miers stellar career she announced several times something like this:"27, 36, 2, 42, 18 and 7 are the winning Lottery Numbers this week for the State of Texas."
Had enough? BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HA!
