I agree. The woman is obviously a Christian through her associations with the groups Bush mentioned she has worked with. Plus, I am pretty sure she was wearing a cross this morning which is pretty bold to me. It has gotten to the point in this country that declaring yourself a Christian by wearing the cross is putting a bullseye on your chest.
That being said, it depends on if she is what I like to call a "new wave Christian" or a strict Bible Christian as to whether she is pro-life. I personally have never understood how a person can call themselves a Christian and be anything but pro-life but thats just me.

- I've been skimming through these posts and am truly amazed at the one issue people out there. How they have determined that she's a "pro abortionist" so quickly is quite astonishing.Abortion is not a skimpy issue.
And . . . if she does support abortion, it does say something unpleasant about how she interprets the Constitution. It says she can find and support virtual rights where real ones do not exist.
We'll eventually find out.

I grew up on a farm in the midwest and we raised hogs. When one hog would walk by another, out of the blue it would bite that ones tail. The hog with the bloody tail would then get bitten by all the other hogs and would eventually be killed and consumed by the rest. We used to spray diesel on the backs of groups of hogs when we mixed them together for the first time. Made them all smell the same and really cut down on the fighting.

I am very disappointed GWB missed an opportunity to make history by appointing the first black female justice, or the first Hispanic.Oh sure! He might've picked Carol Mosely Brown or Attorney General Gonzales. Don't kid yourself that this President would pick a Garza or (I forget the name of that Black conservative female from Texas). I had high hopes in January of 2000 that we'd put the brakes on globalism. GW may not be himself CFR, but Cheney is; Rummy is; and so are most of the rest of his top advisors.
The agenda continues right on schedule as it has since 1929. Conspiracy trivia question: Why 1929?

The problem with this pick is that with so many stellar potential picks out there, he went with someone who is less than stellar. It's called a letdown. Agree with you there!

"Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., had urged the administration to consider Miers, two congressional officials said. There was a long list of staunchly conservative judges that Democrats were poised to fight, Miers not among them." Ugh.

Conservatism is officially dead in Washington DC.It's always been "every man for himself". Now its official. The RATS and the PUBBIES are two sides of the same coin. I've always voted Republican (with one exception), now I'm not sure about any of them.

Although that comment wasn't aimed at me - the info has been posted both with links and by copy/paste - she DID give to Gore in '88.
Calling someone a troll because you don't believe them is pretty bad form.

There is no confirmation where she stands on abortion one way or another. Perhaps someone can give a source other than F&F?? Wanted JRB, but perhaps she didn't want to go through the inquisition?

Plus, why the heck did he not pick someone in their 50's?I would hope they checked her gene pool for signs of longevity.
Perhaps her parent, grandparents and great grandparents live into their nineties.

woman lawyer who headed the texa bar, the stereo type is one of another O'Connor.
The texas bar is hardly the bastion of legal integrity given the fact they allow the Huston Prosecutor to run amuck and abuse his law license for political hucksterism.
This is the stereotype. Based on that, I have no reason to believe she is pro defense of marriage, or pro individual rights, pro-second amendment, or anything else that is consitutional.
If anything is YET ANOTHER ratchet judge who will not set things right but just be a placekeeper for the next looney leftist.

There must be a very good reason hogs attack eachother. I don't know what it is, but it must serve some purpose.
Miers is not the best pick. There is little we can do about it. Are we merely supposed to shut up and keep cheering for big-spending, half-hearted conservatives just because they are Republicans?

My concern with the knee-jerk reaction today on FR is that we can sometimes sound like the wackos at DU..... Lets simply deal with facts and eliminate the emotion.... Yes, let's hope if she does get confirmed, she is better at waiting for all the facts to be presented to her before making a decision, unlike many on this board.

I haven't felt this bad since my Cleveland Indians got swept this weekend by the White Sox.
