It is disappointing, though. I really wanted an in-your-face choice. That is the crux of the matter for many Freepers.

The problem is we know nothing about her. Also, she was on the Texas Lottery and we all know they are a bunch of crooks.

Time will tell whether or not it is a smart or good choiceA stealth candidate (Miers) from a stealth candidate (Bush). Let's hope she turns out more conservative than he.

Maybe not too bad after a few long necks though

Or Luttig? I don't know a lot about him but this woman doesn't sound like the best choice.

I agree.
I'm sure this person is bright and has an impressive record, but certainly not in the judicial field!
i am uneasy about this pick for this job.

If that's so then Bush is a real scumbag. No one puts their friends or loyal employees through the humiliation of a confirmation defeat which they know they cannot overcome.
The game of politics is not pretty. And I would say the democrats are the scumbags for forcing a person to have to jump through all these hoops to get what you want. If Bush was left alone to do what he wants, you would see things done alot differently.

Bush, just like his father, is a back-stabber.
Bush has betrayed me, and hundred's of thousands like me, again.
I feel sick and angry.
I hope my Senators have the balls to do what is right.
I am not wasing any more time contacting Bush.

Bush is not even calling her a constructionist as he did at the Roberts announcement. He did express that sentiment though, that the nominee would not "legislate from the bench."

He also chose the path right into liberal hell.

- The choice is a real scream. Drudge has posted a thumb nail sketch of her background. First of all, by working closely with Bush for a number of years, he is satisfied that he really, really, knows she is a conservative. By never having been a judge, she has no record of written opinions that the left could use to bludgeon her with at the confirmation hearings. They are left with nothing to grab on to. Bwahahahahaha!!! - Brilliant! You nailed it. The "Real Conservatives" just want a big fight over abortion because they think they are being let down. The "Real Liberals" just want a big fight over abortion because they need to use fear to raise funds. Let the fun begin.

I'm disgusted with this nomination. It shows Bush doesn't have the fortitude to take on the Dems. She's inexperienced and she does not look healthy enough to be on the bench for 20 years. We worked hard to get Bush elected and he rewards us with this nomination, an old political crony. He could have picked Luttif, Garza or Alito.
To: BibChr
You are very wise. I agree.

Janice Brown got the knife in her back.Have you talked with her?
She was my choice, but was she on the short list? Did she want the job? How is this betrayal?

True, we never know how a justice will turn out. Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised by Miers. However, I am very disappointed GWB missed an opportunity to make history by appointing the first black female justice, or the first Hispanic.

As long as her allegiance is first to the Constitution, then her pro-choice background has no relevance.
