Harriet Miers
Well, if mine threw a tantrum at home, they got one whack on the fanny to break the pattern, then got sent to their rooms where they could yell all they wanted, but I didn't have to listen to them. They knew better than to do it in public. They figured the same thing would happen, but they never pushed it. If they ever even got close to doing it, they got taken to the car and sent to their rooms when we got home.
"Fight anyway. Fight hard, never surrender. Oppose the northeasterners in the next primary"
I'm talking about now. What would you do?
Some here have said this is a "trust me" pick. I agree. The reason this is frightening is that Souter was a "trust me" pick also. The difference is that 41 didn't know Souter from the Sultan of Oompapa mau mau. 43 has known this woman for 20 years. I trust that.
I'm still trying to figure out how to apply all this to the tantrums on the forum ;~D
Re-read.
I NEVER said that I was in "stupid mode".
I said that I am not in "stupid mode" as you advocate.
This is not hard.
Jay tells the truth and Harry lies.
Go with Jay.........good pick.
AGreed, in theory.
But it's a bit odd that she is going to be the only person on the court without a pedigree of Harvard, Stanford or Yale law. (Ginsberg graduated from Columbia but after Harvard).
Like it or not, that is how the game is played. Like you, I don't particularly like it.
EXPERIENCE - that's all we are asking for. She doesn't have enough of it.
And I'd trust him over you any day.
My dog has more balls and she is a girl!"
good summary....
Do you think all the RINOs and all of the Democrat Senators from red states could hold together and reject 5 conservative nominees in a row? How about 10? They might, might, be able to reject two.
75% of the population would be outraged by the third rejected nominee and then you hit send up an African American woman...game over.
They keep saying Bush is a poker player but he keeps folding pocket aces preflop.
In the next several weeks, conservatives are going to be more reassured about Miers and liberals aghast.
She asserted her commitment to strict constructionism this morning. Isn't that a good start?
I NEVER thought the above. The term "compassionate conservative" was a BIG tip off as well as the push for government faith based initiatives.
This is not tin foil: I'm not a fan of the ABA. They are for self preservation of good & bad attorneys, and for the self preservation of judges, reckless or decent ones - that is their stated position; self preservation of their membership.
You do know she fought against the Bar trying to take a pro-choice stance?
""Re-read.

Ok, I re-read. From your post: ""I cannot do this in the "stupid mode" that you advocate. I am not stuck on anything, much less stupid.""
and by the way, I never 'advocated'anything.
Exactly. I just made the same point above, LOL!
Another insecure boy bravely calling the President a coward from behind his widdew keyboard.......
Me Entertaining? Yes. I'm an entertainer.

Graduated from:
University of Akron, J.D. 1971; University of Virginia, LL.M. 1988
Someone without an Ivy League pedigree who would have elated conservatives-and Republicans-throughout the country.
Why Miers?
