Harriet Miers
Interesting, I'll have to try that, would be a nice way to enjoy the saltiness without it being so strong. I've always just used the whole strip filets from a can, but I love all kinds of seafood.
Am told that anchovies are as common in Asian versions of pizza as pepperoni is over here.
What this means is that one should never expect another President to nominate someone who openly advoates Scalia's judicial philosophy. Therefore, a Senate majority means nothing.
This isn't the NFL draft. It's politics. It's all a political calculation. It's never about who is the most qualified, best person.
I can't fault her for being a Dem. in the 80s. Texas had been a Dem state forever. I can't fault her for giving to Al Gore in 88. I voted for him then myself. Thought he was a good ole conservative southerner. My guess is that the gift to klintoon was a "carryover" from the late 80s mindset. So I'll give her a pass on that (maybe).
Yum, Olive Garden, time for a long lunch!
Congratulations for the DUMBEST speculation yet on this subject. I also note that you refuse to examine further that Miers' pastor says her views on abortion are consistent with Evangelical Christianity.
So, then, what is important to you here? A pro-life nominee? Or do you just want to bitch?
Let me make this brief, as I am folding my tinfoil hat while typing. PLEASE, stop thinking.
I agree. what was wrong with Edith Jones, why couldn't she have been the pick? OK, I can understand Owens or Rogers-Brown becoming a major battle - but what about Jones?
Gosh I hope you stay mad.... it's great entertainment.
Well, for the record, I'm still withholding my opinion of Roberts. I'm not sold on him until I see what he actually does.
Oh, it's getting better by the minute. Check out post #2180. We ought to send it to Leno so he can use it in his monologue.
"Levin is the "gold standard" of commentary on this matter as far as I am concerned. if he doesn't like it, we should all be worried."
Unless he is part of the ROPE A DOPE stategery...lol
Maybe the Pres. took a "secret flight" to Austin to meet with Earle.
Did you notice that right off the bat on this thread people were jumping to conclusions? Instead of saying, "who is she?", "let's wait and see", they were already assuming she was a bad pick.
Now, I admit that I have some misgivings that she is not a judge. But you could turn that around and say, why not get a perspective from someone who has never been a judge?
I also had hoped for someone younger who would therefore would sit on the bench longer. But once again, she might give us 20 good years.
I'm beginning to think that the poster floriduh voter really IS one of those folks who couldn't figure out the butterfly ballot.
On an SR-71?
Rush said a little while ago that Miers never gave anything to Clinton's campaign. He said someone mistook a $250 donation by someone named "Harris Miers" in '92. BTW, you are right about Gore in '88.
I'm not too worried that she is unsound and liberal on interpreting the constitution. By I don't see her as the type that will be willing to see herself destroyed by the media for casting principled swing votes. Scalia and Thomas are despised in "all the right circles". Is she willing to be a social leper? The fact that she's from Texas and not New England makes me little hopeful...
"Yes Mr. Occam, I have your Razor right here!"
