Does it bother you that he uses notes to give an historic speech?

Isn't that a little different from being asked questions where prepared notes might make you look less than honest?

Missed that.

Speech done now, and we get an extended Skinnerville over on Fox.

Did he mess up and call The Capitol the building of the Executive Branch?

Yeah. Understandable tho.

I hope and pray that he does well by the Constitution.

John Paul Stevens administering the oath

From earlier today, my post#50 really applies now! In response to 'I hope Justice Thomas administers the oath rather than Stevens':

Personally, I would LOVE to see the tradition of having the most senior associate Justice do the swearing in of Chief Justice Roberts.

This would be a major DIG into the conscience of the libs that their power on the USSC is dependant on the daily health and performance of the oldest justice on the court. That would bring into their lives yet another source of worry.

For me, Schedenfreude is a wonderful thing... lol

I love how Roberts through in the word "prayer" a few times in the end.

I also thought it funny that he mentioned JP Stevens was into his 30th year on the court. I immediately thought that we'll have another seat real soon. lol

I didn't reach a conclusion, I asked a question. Since I'm not you, I don't know why you found that troubling. Sorry for any misunderstanding, it wasn't my intent.

Btw, I find it VERY interesting that you claim that notes may may look someone less than honest. Hasn't EVERYONE in the modern era used notes BUT John Roberts during the hearings.

Thanks for posting the voting results, hadn't seen it broken down like that yet. I think Reid might have shot himself in the foot in a state like Nevada.

I feel sorry for the next person nominated...if for no other reason than trying to follow the ease at which Roberts handled the hearings and the Dems snarky questions and comments...

I think that if you refer to notes when asked a question about your thoughts or opinions, it looks bad. When you are referring to a document under discussion it is a different story. At least that is the way every deposition I have ever participated in was handled.
