Mr. FRIST. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that on Thursday, the time from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. be divided in the following manner: 10:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Senator Leahy; 10:45 a.m. to 11 a.m., Senator Specter; 11 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., the Democratic leader; and 11:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the majority leader; provided further that at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, the Senate proceed to a vote on the confirmation of the nomination of John Roberts to be Chief Justice of the United States, with no further intervening action or debate.
Yore all just out there.
Tell me a knightly tale, a tale of you're.
CSpan announcer just said that the President will administer the Oath to Roberts after confirmation.
correct
So, did we get unanimous consent on that?
Personally, I would LOVE to see the tradition of having the most senior associate Justice do the swearing in of Chief Justice Roberts.
This would be a major DIG into the conscience of the libs that their power on the USSC is dependant on the daily health and performance of the oldest justice on the court. That would bring into their lives yet another source of worry.
For me, Schedenfreude is a wonderful thing... lol
LOL!
Yeah, that was from mon.
Funny, I thought we needed to take a VOTE first.
And, somehow, I don't feel like celebrating.
"And, somehow, I don't feel like celebrating."
Why?
Ooooh, just announced on CSPAN. CSPAN3 will be holding a House session on Homeland Security Disaster Preparedness in response to Hurricane Katrina.
That should be a short meeting. "We're not."
I'm surprised the RATs have rolled on this one.
Leaky is speaking.

Without objection, it is so ordered.
Mr. FRIST. Tomorrow we will resume statements on the nomination of John Roberts, those statements having begun at about 1 o'clock today. Moments ago we locked in a time certain for the vote on the confirmation of the Roberts nomination, and that vote is now set for Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. I do ask all Senators to be in the Chamber and seated at their desks on this historic day for this historic vote.Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning will be devoted to continued statements on Judge Roberts. Now that the final vote is set, I encourage Members to come over early for their statements rather than waiting until Thursday morning.
Let me know when we get to Frist; up until then, these guys won't be worth listening to (heck; it might not be worth it to tune in before 11:30).
16 Chief Justices of the United States.
