Tom Delay has taught an important lesson today and I hope the White House Communications Office was listening.
Lesson: When you get bad press, get in front of the story and defend yourself...immediately. Sad to say, the WH Communications Office is always a "day late and a dollar short" when it comes to defending the President. Bush needs a war room. You don't wait three days to answer charges. You answer them within the same news cycle, as Delay did today. Dan Bartlett, are you listening?
I am not Dan, but I am listening. And I agree.
Lt. Gen Russ Honoree for White House Press Secretary.
Agreed. Honoree would have the press corps messing in their pants.

DeLay is coming up on Fox News!
I've always maintained this is the main problem with the Bush admin. They just lay there and let these kooks say whatever they want. By not responding soon, you allow people to think it might be true.

BUMP......Honore knows the press is stuck on stupid.....and he tells them!

I agree. I want the Republicans to fight back more than taking all this cr-p on the chin all the time. Thats why I was happy today that Tom Delay came out swinging!....

Bartlett is a nice guy, but not the right guy for the job of communicating the President's agenda. Too soft, too nice, not agressive enough. For example, the President's Social Security initiative is now on life support. The President can't carry the message alone, he needs his press office to get out there and push his policies. This is just not happening. The President is not being well-served by his staff. Again, I hope they take to heart the very important lesson Mr. Delay taught today.
IMHO, the entire White House press office needs to be shaken up, with a few pink slips passed around. I'm sure Scott McClellan is a nice guy, but he comes across as a real nebbish in dealing with those jackal reporters, especially that swine David Gregory.
I would love to see as President Bush's spokesman a combination of General Honore and somebody like R. Lee Ermey. The White House press corps has gotten cocky, and is way overdue for a trip to the woodshed.
So unless Scott McClellan can put on a "war face" in the style of General George S. Patton, with the same butt-chewing ability, he should be history.
I agree and often wish the President would speak out with the truth at the beginning of 'things' instead of waiting until it has blown up into something big.
DeLay showed up on Brit Hume's show today!
Did you see Brit Hume today.
He broke for the second half of the panel with something like, "I understand we have Tom DeLay himself outside the studio door." Stay tuned, we'll be right back after the commercial break.
Then he did an invterview on the spot with DeLay with no interruptions and without the usual closure (humor piece) on Special Report.
I thought it was outstanding.
Michael Reagan, on his talk show today, said Republicans are so lame in their response to Democrat attacks that they should wear dresses because they act like homosexuals from San Francisco. He really said that!
You are right on with your views! I do not understand why this White House doesn't come back fighting. This is just getting ridiculous. Where's the great Karl Rove.....laying on a beach somewhere?
President Bush needs to come out fighting and stick up for people, and not leave them swaying in the wind.
Sorely disappointed in my President and his staff.
