Every Thursday at the Finest |
that is what I see on the opening
and now we are three!
It's really not to be alarmed. It's a function of how different browsers (and different versions of browsers) interact with non-web-safe colors. The fact is that if we restricted the artistry of Billie to web-safe colors, we'd restrict very much her palette. So there's not much to be done but to accept some element of subjectivity in the presentations, for the present, until they get these internet browsers to behave with better predictability.
It sure ares. :)
Thanks for the pictures of those great gentlemen and veterans! Bet they were thrilled to get that coin you gave them. You're such a thoughtful person. Save some birthday cake for us tonight. :)
Hi, Gail - off today?
To Bush's credit are Condi Rice and Bolton and John Roberts.
We soon will know his nomination to fill O'Connors' slot on the Supreme Court!
Yes, all true. But the fact is there are lots more qualified people to do disaster relief than the FEMA managers.
As people outside the beltway may not be aware, a lot of very good senior FEMA managers with a lot of credentials left in disgust when too many political hacks joined up.
I think Pres. Bush has made a lot of good appointments. I'm not generally down on him or his choice of leaders, as evidenced by my consistent strong support in these quarters for his Supreme Court nominee (which, the record will show, I predicted he'd nominate before many here knew his name).
I just thing it is an inexcusable disgrace to dump a lot of political hacks in FEMA. And there's no amount of "everyone else did it under the Democrats" or "the Democratic local officials' response to FEMA sucked too" that will excuse it in my book. FEMA's response is a disaster, plain and simple, and it should be fixed fast. There's more people than just Brown that have to go.
Be back soon with more...
The current disaster aside for the moment, do you remember several years ago during the Clinton Administration when they said that they were going to make FEMA a part of the Judicial branch under Janet Reno? Everyone at that time it was the worse thing that could happen because it would be come a worthless enity. It looks like it happened just on the wrong watch. You are right, it needs to be cleaned out and done with a big shovel. Most people though, unless they have worked in the military or with the Police or Fire Departments don't know #### about disaster preparedness or even how to set up a plan much less how to execute it.
And yes, I have had experience with DP's and how the are set up and executed. I became very familiar with them both before and after Hugo. You always prepare for a worse case scenario and thus are better able to handle whatever happens. And you train and train and train so that it become rote by the time that a disaster comes. Paper pushers/desk jockies should be made to take part in the active excersises so that they know what is to be expected.
I agree about the Coasties, they didn't wait, they just did what had to be done. They are the heroes of the hour.
"Most people though, unless they have worked in the military or with the Police or Fire Departments don't know #### about disaster preparedness or even how to set up a plan much less how to execute it."
I so totally agree. But the fact is there are plenty, plenty of qualified people who are experts leading large organizations that they could put into FEMA. If I were them, I'd start looking at, say, the Coast Guard as a recruiting pool!
I agree 100%.
Another thing that controls the colors one sees is how your color settings are (right-click on the desktop and click *properties* to see where yours are set - mine *are* set the highest true colors, but some monitors have the option of 256 colors, 16 bit, 24 bit or 36 bit)
Dolly, that's also where you set your screen resolution.
Well, whatever the colors, we all agree that it's pretty and once again Billie has received and A+.
Dang, it's still brown to me. Looks just like it does on my monitor! Help! LOL
Okay! :)
It *is* interesting to know though that some see brown, some see charcoal grey. Blue and charcoal are pretty together, too. :)
:) Hugs, dixie, and thank you!
Hi, my screen resolution and "true color" setting are the same as yours.
Ah, doesn't involve dithering. Hmm, this is a mystery still then. Hmmmm.
I would LOVE to sit down with you and hear you relate that story in person!!!
Finally made it in. : )
