Search and rescue, search and recovery, emergency housing, ships for fire and police, emergency food and water, emergency money for hundreds of thousands displaced ... and I could go on!
It's an EMERGENCY!! The whining here about the money spent for this and complaints that some money will be misspent or wasted is no better than the people who want to slash military procurement to the bone because they find a $600 toilet seat.
The relief bill in Congress passed 410-11. For some people, that means we have 411 socialists. Whatever. Stay ideologically pure during a disaster if it works for you. Fortunately, our President isn't that politically obtuse.
what happend to the POTUS we voted for??? its not just the return of big spending but all the other stuff--dealing with poverty and racial discrimination. what? and did anyone catch the line about labor unions reaching out to other labor unions? i feel pretty disgusted right about now. like maybe POTUS will win over some of his RAT critics but he threw out the whole conservative playbook to do it. what's next--every city wanting help to take care of "the poor"? I'm pretty PO'd right now. better stop writing.

I believe that it was President Jefferson raided the treasury in order to purchase Louisiana. It appears that he made huge headlines with that profligate waste of tax money.
No biggie. I grew up in south Houston, had many black friends, even girlfriends, and my parents taught us a persons skin color does not matter.

This was an MBA speech, full of entrepeneurship, new businesses springing up, ownership of jobs and homes. It was a speech of promise and hard work by the great people of America.
And you missed it all...............because you chose to hear what you already thought instead of the words spoken.

Funny how none of the Cast Iron Conservatives realize how much Fed Tax REVENUE is being lost everyday that area is devastated. Funny how often "Fiscal Conservatives" are are pennywise and pound foolish. It isn't just the 3 states, it is a whole lot of river traffic to and from the whole Midwest. Sitting on our butts doing NOTHING, as the "Fiscal Conservatives" advocate, actually GROWS the deficit because of the reductions in tax income.

A very small portion of the gulf coast experienced any significant damage. It makes no sense for the federal government to rebuild a city that lies below sea level.

Another Ohioan is heard from! It's a shame it's a great state except for snow and jobs.! I fled to Indiana, but this is not working real well either, but I work for a national, I will try to move south by transfer.
