9 P.M. EDT.
It was about entrepeneurship and hard work.......not just hand outs.
btw, did you even listen to the speech, or are you on bushbash autopilot?
Good job tonight, Howlin.
The President gave hope to some hopeless people who have lost everything but the air they breathe. Without hope, they will never be able to pick themselves up and move forward.
Africans, the Palestinians and others too. It has nothing to do with skin color. It's bad business to spend so much more than what one takes in. I don't want these debts on my children. And, it's outrageous that the Democrats in Louisiana have done what they done to my fellow citizens. Let's help them first. But not by rebuilding NO and sending them back to the Democratic plantation.
You're right; I started laughing when I read the URL.......LOL.
I saw Haley..Mississippians can be proud of their Governor and he is proud of his fellow Mississippians.
Oh really. I had a business in the direct path of two hurricanes last year, and as a direct consequence I was put out of business. The net effect was I had to pay thousands of dollars in extra income taxes (its complicated). Would you like to write me a check for my losses? No? I thought not.
The extra taxes I had to pay were squandered by a "compassionate" Bush for aid to Islamist groups in Indonesia, (remember that picture of US aid being handed to the guy in the Osma Bin Ladin shirt?) and now for those who built below sea level but wouldn't buy flood insurance, and to build shiny new lives for the indolent who have already spent their entire lives living at government expense.
Those who will make the big big money of course are those who are wired into Mississippi and Louisiana state and local hackdoms, all Democrats. Which will mean more monies for the hackdom.
What America is about is people building their own lives. It's hard, but New Orleans, and the rest of the coast will be better if rebuilt by people building their own lives and businesses, rather than floated on a sea of Federal (IE coerced taxpayer) money, Federal money which means that there is no real investment by the beneficiaries.
The President proposed to spend Federal money on infrastructure and the haters don't like that! Do they expect MS and LA to do that? Do they expect private companies to fix levees and build roads?
Thanks for your post. I have good friends from LA. I have had my eyes opened.
I hate Pat Buchanan, don't call me a Buchanite unless you want to be called a Clintonite.
The port is operational. It doesn't take $200,000,000,000 to fix it or the city for that matter.
I'm a free trader, not an isolationist.
I'm a fiscal conservative, for cutting taxes and restraining spending. Pres. Bush is not doing the latter.
Personally, I think pundits are involved in a drama. They pull straws, get their positions, and then deliver. That's the only thing that explain their constant changing of positions. Yesterday pro-Bush, today anti-Bush... It's good t.v. Since the end result of t.v. news is ratings and not the truth, the better the drama the better the bottom line.
I thought our President laid out the right format in everyway possible. He touched on everything and demonstrated a great understanding of the literal hell people are living right now as they feel so hopeless.
I loved every word...our President represented our nation as the way I like to think of it.
But I will add, that I did love it when he said HE will assign a oversight committee to make certain the funds are used appropriately.
And I loved it when he said the federal government, which DOES have the capacity to move massive amounts of human help and equipment and supplies needs to have faster authority ( TAKE THAT AND SHOVE IT DOWN YOUR GULLET< BLANK-OH)
And I am GLAD that he is going to insist and assign oversight on updated and thorough emergency plans for EVERY MAJOR CITY.He is a man of accountability, clarity, hope, action and he loves GOD. And he wants the world to know it! I love that about him! And I always will.
That's why I moved to FL, although I'm back up here right now.
I like Barbour, better than most names thrown around
His baggage is that he used to be a lobbyist. People hate lobbyists more than they hate politicians
Most pols become lobbyist not the other way around.
I love Ohio too. I'm from Preble County in SW Ohio but lived in Central Illinois for the last 8 years. I miss the rolling countryside.
Pussy-Galore....."We democrats will help YOU rebuilt your community" We want to keep community together (poor and on the plantation)...thanks to yada yada...Lots of emphasis on community....Must have said it a dozen times....(Is that Teddy's drinking word game word for the evening?)
It's always good when we all stand together. :-)
You folks have an admirable, strong spirit.
I see this a lot on TV. I live in a generally disaster free zone, tend to think why do folks want to live there?
Well, it is home.
I cannot imagine the devastation of My place. It is overwhelming anyway, but for it to be mine?
Tonight a shrimp boat fisherman, described his significant difficulties, was asked if he thought he would succeed, there was no doubt, nor seconds hesitation from him
that "we " would hang in there.
I think Mr Bush was referring to this spirit in the
"gonna build higher" promise.
Hang in there.
I hope you and your family can get back to some
boring normalcy really soon.
later
The answer is both! However, neither will take place, the mayor is playing the race card, the govenor is a woman and both are democrats and tonight our fearless leader (whom I and my entire family voted for twice) has just said he is putting them in charge of reconstruction.
What a maroon!
