9 P.M. EDT.
I agree with your first statement. I can't watch CNN or my throat will swell shut and I will die.
I'm not either... I get pretty tired of it...
I liked that. Let's get these people out of Democrat enslavement, and start them down the road of taking care of themselves, as they are capable of doing.
This was such an optimistic speech. A new beginning. And many will take advantage of it.
Born in Columbus, parents from Toledo, grew up in Cleveland, went to school in Youngstown. I am now next door in Indiana, but not far from the line, my parents are between Deifiance and Findley. Some day I will move south, but my heart will always be in Ohio.
I know where Springfield is as well. :)
No. He isn't. He put the Inspector General in charge of overseeing the funds.
The inspector General? I could have swore he stated the mayor, goveror and locals would be directly involved in some of this. Shouldn't the mayor and governor be in jail?
ON c-span is REid and Pelosi.. griping about Bush giving a speech tonight>>>>
Reid: Katrina, what really was Katrina...a failure of leadership! LOL
ZOT
Clinton had a public works project too, the tech industry was in charge though. They called it the Y2K.
I reacted to your statement about giving billions of dollars to Africans.
It would appear that a rude, crass, and tasteless comment was made.
Is there an echo in here?
He's already set up an inspector general.
I've got a grip on what is happening to the U.S. Dollar and the trillions of dollars of debt being accrued by an ever-larger federal government. Check with you later.
I thought there was a lot of corruption in Philly
The Officials in LA make the politicians in Philly look honest
They knew how to build things back then. When Andrew hit, the old plantation homes just needed a few new window panes and shingles while the newer homes nearby were demolished.
What channel are you watching? I think husband is just about to pull the plug on news shows for tonight...lol.
Do you have jobs? And do you hate mostly literate but not stuck up Yankees?
I read the reports from you all and by the time I switched channels Terry (barf)Moran's face was on and I quickly switched back!
Glad to hear the reactions of the NO people.
LOL
you got further north than Detroit and you will find a conservative base that is just as potent as it is here in Ohio.
my mom's family is from Detroit actually. Most of the time they vote Democratic but this last time around, 2 of 3 uncles voted for Bush.
I checked on property taxes in some Parrishes. Over 10- percent, some $130+ per $1,000!
====As billions are approrpiated for the rebuilding effort, the Congress and the President should look very hard at the one condition that will make or break rebuilidng: Control over the local permitting process. Under its Spending Clause authority, Congress most certainly can condition the expenditure of the money upon the states and the local governments' agreement to cede their land use authority to the federal effort for a period certain --say two years. Congress can also energize the effort by suspending the operation of various *environmental laws* in the recovery region, thus sweeping out of the way of the rebuilding the NEPA paperwork, the Endangered Species gamesmanship, and the third party standing of individuals less concerned with housing units than the recapturing of "wetland" areas.
(Hugh Hewitt)
It will be tried. Some may get away with it, for a while. With 300 million Americans aware of the likelihood, Congress will be using its own safeguards, plus Homeland Security has some things going that will make it hard for questionable deals to go unquestioned for long.
