I recall, as well, that SCOTUS ruled Newdow had no grounds to bring his case to court. What's going on?

>"Under God" was not included in the pledge for religious reasons but rather, for political ones at the dawn of the Cold War.
Eisenhower's personal direction, if memory serves.

Excellent news!
No, wait, don't...
Ow! No, what I meant was that this ruling a) won't stand, and b) comes at an excellent time in the political sense, with respect to President Bush's judicial nominations, from the Supreme Court on down.

"It was a joke, lighten up. Do you really believe I want people to die?"
How am I supposed to know that? I don't know you. You posted a simple statement. I reacted to it. Apparently, so did a moderator.
Maybe you should rethink your sense of humor. I don't find calls for natural disasters particularly funny.

>> Tomorrow they'll rule that it's unconstitutional for anybody who isn't a registered DemonRat to be breathing. <<
I thought tomorrow was allocated to ruling the Constitution unconstitutional.
Let me check the schedule.........
Okay, the unconstitutional Constitution ruling is set for Friday. My bad.

This is the latest round in the Newdow case. I filed a brief in the US Supreme Court against this "gentleman" when his case was there for the first time. There is no surprise here.
The trial court is "following the precedent" of the Ninth Circus Court of Appeals (excuse me, Circuit Court). The case will go up. The US Supreme Court will slap down both the trial judge and the Ninth Circuit.
If not, Congress will slap them all down with a jurisdiction-stripping law. One way or the other, this is temporary insanity.

I believe that will affect a large chunk of the western half of the United States, not just the state of California.
fifteen states per Judge Napolitano. So, if children want to say the pledge will they be arrested if they do it with "under God"???

"Return to the original pre-Ike version. Problem solved."
I have always spoken the pre-1954 Pledge. It's the one I learned when I was in first grade. It seems to work passably well as a pledge of allegience to my nation.
However, I don't mind if others use the "under God" phrase. Why should I?

Well there is a few more details. This the case that Micheal Newdow refiled after he was rebuffed by the Supreme Court, last year, with the help of a few of his friends. The judge is one of Bubbas appointees. So what else is new.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands, one nation,
UNDER GOD, with Liberty and Justice for All.
Tell that Facist Judge to come down here and make me stop, and he can bring Ruth Bader Ginsburg and John Paul Stevens too!
To: nov7freedomday
Is the judge going to purge himself of all of the nasty bills in his wallet with "In God We Trust" on them?
Guess not.

I wish they could have waited until right before the next election ...
