MAYOR CRITICIZED EVEN BEFORE LEVY BREAK. National Hurricane Center Director had to call Nagin at home Saturday night to plead: "Get people out of New Orleans." "The criticisms of Nagin came from above as well. Numerous officials urged him to evacuate the city, but he worried about the legality of ordering people out when New Orleans has few safe hurricane shelters. Also, National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield in Miami called Nagin at home Saturday night and told him: Get people out of New Orleans.
''I could never sleep if I felt like I didn't do everything that I could to impress upon people the gravity of the situation,'' Mayfield said. ``New Orleans is never going to be the same.''
When a grim Nagin issued the mandatory evacuation order Sunday, he said: ``We are facing a storm that most of us have feared . . . God bless us.''

I can't prove it of course, but Nagin looks to me like someone who enjoys a bong hit now and again. I wouldn't be surprised if Nagin's hurricane party was in full gear when he took that phone call.

If not for President Bush, and others like Max Mayfield, the New Orleans problem would be far, far worse than it was earlier this week. The Mayor and Governor were negligent in their actions.

Nagin is not going to come out of this unscathed but he is not at the top of my list. His Homeland Security chief and the Police Chief are number one and two on the list in that order. I would want to know exactly what happened after the 2004 Ivan debacle before knowing where to place Nagin on the list. I think there might be one or two ACLU lawyers that are ahead of him. Still, even if there were lawsuits behind the indecision, Nagin was the Mayor and sometimes situations require a "damn the lawyers and do the right thing" response.

Repeat it as often as you can:
If it were not for our President, who personally intervened and asked for a mandatory evaculation, many thousand more lives would have been lost.
The blanko governor said this, herself. The President personally called for it. It was at HIS urging.
Let's get this word out -- our President is to thanked for his intervention.

The Mayor and Governor were criminally negligent in their actions.

Removed... Hell I'm starting to think that he might ought to be charged with negligent homicide.

No he cannot...It would be RACIST

I'm not feeling very benevolent today,

All FR memebrs;
It is very important we get the stories like this out, and hammer and hammer them home on websites and talk shows and emails.
The RATs will try to overpower us, but the truth must come out.
Checkout posts #34 and #54 of this thread about the busses and demographic information, along with photos of busses lined up and never used.

We must not let the RATs use this arguement. Hit them, and hit 'em hard with facts.
Also, many have posted the statement by President Bush informing Gov. Bozo Blanco to evacuate the city. We have the facts, the RATs have the baseless rants.

The mayor's failure to deploy the 3-400 schoolbuses that were available to help evacuate the needy will come back to haunt him. In my opinion, this was criminal negligence. How many people died because of this negligence?

It's time to let the Congressional Black Caucus loudmouths, the Senate liberal "blame Bush" crowd and the lame stream parrot media what the facts really are. They need a list, with facts and links to back them up, of where Blanco and Nagin acted irresponsibly .
They are deceiving the public who are too ill badly educated to under stand the chain of command, the Constitution and legal roadblocks. I've actually heard people blame Bush for telling people to go to the Super Dome when HE didn't put food and water in there.

There was a moonbat here who said that it was armchair quarterbacking, "hindsight bull****", to point this (image) out. But Nagin knew all along what to do.

Hmmm, Nagin is looking pretty bad inhind sight. I remember when Allen was heading towards Galveston, City Manager order evacuation while the storm was well out at sea, Allen never hit Galveston and City government took a couple of hits over the order, but nothing like the hits Nagin is going to take for waiting too long to issue his evacuation order. Galveston City government is looking good in comparisons.
Hard to believe that Nagin decided to sleep on it saturday night, wonder how many lives that cost.
