Murder and Mayhem in New Orlean's Miserable Shelter: Lessons from the Dome
Reuters ^ | September 2, 2005 | Mark Egan

Valenti and her husband, two of very few white people in the almost exclusively black refugee camp, said she and other whites were threatened with murder on Thursday.

"They hated us. Four young black men told us the buses were going to come last night and pick up the elderly so they were going to kill us," she said, sobbing. "They were plotting to murder us and then they sent the buses away because we would all be killed if the buses came -- that's what the people in charge told us this morning."

Other survivors recounted horrific cases of sexual assault and murder.

Sitting with her daughter and other relatives, Trolkyn Joseph, 37, said men had wandered the cavernous convention center in recent nights raping and murdering children.

She said she found a dead 14-year old girl at 5 a.m. on Friday morning, four hours after the young girl went missing from her parents inside the convention center.

"She was raped for four hours until she was dead," Joseph said through tears. "Another child, a seven-year old boy was found raped and murdered in the kitchen freezer last night."

Don't forget Rap Record music companies, with songs having lyrics GLORIFYING the killing of policemen, and then these companies go on to reap millions of dollars, get MTV awards, and define vast portions of permanent, angry, alienated underclass which are seething powderkegs in our cities waiting to go off in case of external terrorist attack on the cities. Those companies, for one, should be RUN OUT OF BUSINESS, Billboard and MTV who support them should be boycotted or RICO'd, and the cesspool cleaned up by one year from today. Of course, it will never happen in our country. We have, as the ACLU will spew, "The CONSTITUTION" (sarc)

And why would a National Guardsman say go to Iraq?

It was an appropriately bitter and sarcastic comment aimed at the MSM which wants to show dead bodies to undermine American resolve and unity.

the "oppressed" mentality

That, indeed, is a very large part of the problem....along with the removal of God's standard of right and wrong from the fabric of our society and turning it into the Humanistic/Marxist route of moral relativism....

Yes, understood. Of course, I didn't take what you wrote to be hostile. I was just expressing forcefully my point of view on political correctness, the ugly tide of which now seems to have risen to the level of the old fairy tale, "The Emperor Has No Clothes".

That's a damn good question, and come to think about it, not once during this whole disaster have I seen any officials from the NO Police Department on the airwaves trying to take control of the situation at the criminal justice level. Where is the chief? Is he in hiding are out looting with the rest of his department?

This should be a lesson to the nation.

You get what you vote for.

A story of a black woman photographed in the company of looters labeled a looter next to a photo of a white woman witnessed collecting things floating by not called a looter is plastered over every newspaper as a national embarrassment.

DO you have a link for that? I had not heard of it.

I can hear the chit chat from the liberal left now...

You are sooooo right abut that the insensitive military--it is outrageous--you have a proud, hard working city--with a long history of decency--a great mayor and a top notch Governor--and they get squashed by George Bush. I mean --allowing those looters in that city, and hiding the keys to all of the school buses, changing the telephone number of the national guard--and of course, the worse thing --the sublminal messages on the hip hop stations telling people that a category 5 hurricane was nothing more than the usual rush hour rinse they experience every day,

Well, anyway thank God Jesse Jackson is in town--he'll fix things.

When I say "it is fact," I mean, it is a fact the looters are black, not it is a fact you are a race-baiter! For clarification... you are simple stating fact, not race baiting. V's wife.

I will never go to a public shelter, ever.

The shelter was probably meant to be a place to ride the storm out, not become another failed public housing project.

If true, then the behavior of the NO police department is despicable. Somehow, I just can't see a real police force, such as the NYPD, acting like this in the face of such an adversity as this.

The situation in the Superdome exposed New Orleans for what it has always been: A city with a long history of corruption, populated by 67% blacks, many of whom are drug addicts, murderers, rapists and thieves. It does not surprise me in the least to read about the atrocities reported there.

Our children would be reading similar books if they were in government schools. Your post is spot on, but we need to also emphasize a few other points:

1. Many of the so called churches are complicit in this dissolution of our culture. Those churches that are pushing a progressive agenda are part of the problem

2. We need to remove our children from government schools. Government schools will only change when it becomes plain for all to see that they are far less viable than religious, Western culture and morality-based private schools, and home school alternatives.

I really do not know what they are going to do with all the bodies, Northern Alliance, because there are tens of thousands of them. It was reported on Fox that they were keeping them in refrigerated trucks for later identification. The coroners and authorities are completely overwhelmed by what faces them.

As much as you and I want those children's murderers brought to justice, I fear that the horrifying reality is that it probably will not happen. I wish it weren't that way. And I wholeheartedly hope you are right that those animals are prosecuted and brought to justice for their horrendous crimes. But as badly as they are handling everything else, I doubt the authorities are competent enough to do what is necessary.

Perhaps my cynicism is taking over at this point because of the overwhelming nature of this tragedy and my disgust over how local officials have thrown their own people under the bus. Please forgive me for having a bad attitude. I really do hope with all my heart that my cynicism is proved wrong.

Well, it's making me paranoid enough to order 1,000 more rounds of ammo for my home stock in the event a disaster like this ever happens close to home. Good grief!

The Nation, and the World, has witnessed the results of the publik skool indoctrination of Marxism, that "oppressed mentality," as promoted by the National Education Assocation and the ACLU, and the other "liberal" thinkers.

"After they have seen what happened in the Anarchydome, and how govt could not stop it, I would imagine hundreds if not thousands of Americans evacuating major cities will NOT go in temporary quarters with large groups of other people. It is going to be everyman for himself."

I think that the lesson: "in a disaster it's every man for themself" is going to be the lasting message in all this. And a good one in my view, since this has been the underlying truth all along.

You might be fortunate and have friends, neighbors, church, and charities to rely on if the worst case scenario strikes. But ultimately, you and your'n are responsible for you and your'n.
