There is no moral difference between the bastards jacking up gas prices on inventory already purchased and the bastards looting in the streets of New Orleans.

The moral difference is this: THE GAS PURVEYORS OWN THE GAS.

The practical difference is this: looting reduces the goods available for you to purchase, while high prices increase the goods available for you to purchase. If the gas stations charge less than the market price, there will be a shortage.

Expensive gas beats NO GAS to hell and back.

Your problem is that you've bought into the common fallacy that production cost determines (or ought to determine) price.

Advocating secure borders is a "cheap shot"?

When done by you and most of the other border freaks - most assuredly.

This has been a cluster-you-know-what from the get go. I want to know who is in charge of this fiasco, top to bottom. There is no excuse for this in this country. NONE! It's almost embarassing.

Ditto that

It was on our radio why it was rising. We don't use reformulated gas here in Oklahoma. It never should have been used anywhere IMHO because it causes refineries to shut down to switch over.

We have a refinery fairly close that only produced the non-reformulated gas.

What is your problem? If you want to defend total incompetence, be my guest.

I think what the gas companies are doing is way over the top. There is NO explanation for gas going from 2.65 to 3.35 overnight, none. Except price gouging

Oklahoma was one of those four states because our two Senators took the EPA to Court to stop the use of reformulated gas in Oklahoma.

The left will go berserk - they've already shown they don't give a sh!t what happens down on the Gulf Coast - as far as they're concerned all those people had it coming because they voted for Bush. I guarantee that a request for an emergency injunction blocking this move is already being shopped to a "friendly" federal judge, and I put the oodds at better than 50 percent that said injunction will be put in place within an hour of the President finishing his speech.

Ordinarily I'd say this is a good thing because the blowback will be huge and immediate. But I am just so friggin' tired of these freaks using every opportunity they can to use this catastrophe to flog their ridiculous agendas!

I am in total agreement. With the situation being what it is, who's to say that tacking on a "little extra",(aka: gouging), won't be noticed? When things calm dawn, how fast do you think it's going to take the pump price to go back to the pre-Katrina level? IMPO, not until November or December, if then. Having said all that, the whole, bad, nightmare sucks to the max.

Right on!

It's in the same category as the Leftists blaming the hurricane on Kyoto and Bush. Spinning ongoing issues off of current events is something we all do, but we try to be rational rather than 'Cindy' about it

On his worst day and at his absolute worst, Bush is a better man and a better President than the last occupant of the WH....The people who criticize Bush now in his policies and his approach to problems are probably the same ones who said that he shouldn't be President because he had no experience and was 'stupid'...For a 'no experience' stupid guy, he has done an outstanding job...Even if Bush slacked off now and slept through the rest of his final term in office, he can still be counted as one of our best Presidents... Billy Boy spent his entire first term campaigning for his second term and he spent his entire second term well....you know...Call that a President??? His administration got us here)

We ran out and filled up all vehicles and several cans late Sunday PM as soon as I saw the words "Cat 5" and "New Orleans" on Drudge (at $2.61 BTW)

Call it whatever you like. If the price is too high, people won't buy it. Shop at the "nice" gas station that only charges $2.75. And when their tanks run dry, and you refuse to pay the gougers, you can walk.

But hope and pray that a few gougers remain with ridiculously expensive gas left to buy, when the ambulance comes to rescue you.

Bush cut his working vacation in Texas by two days even though aides have long contended that his duties are uninterrupted when he spends time at his ranch in nearby Crawford, which has White House-level communications capability.

The media really make me sick.

They explained in on our OKC radio station. Because of the current price to refill their tanks, the stations have been notified they will be paying much more so the price to the consumer is rising. Supplies are diminishing, and that is why they are stopping production of reformulated gasoline for now as it takes longer to get that out to consumers.

If you live in a State with a small supply of gasoline on hand, the prices will rise substantially as their supplier raises the price to the station to refill the tanks and the supplier is paying more to get gasoline from the refineries as there is not enough to go around right now.

Heard that prices will fall once the refineries are in full production. We need NEW refineries and NEW oil drilling in places that have been put off limits. Blame EPA and the environmentalist wackos if you want to blame anyone. Without the EPA and the attorneys, we would have new refineries on line IMHO.
