The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.

The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...

Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

~LOL~ the only people still doing Natalee is MSNBC -- Rita Cosby -- I caught the end last night where she assured her "non" audience she would be reporting from Aruba again tonight.

I don't know if this is the place to add it, but my mil called this afternoon and reminded us my wife's cousin,in the USAF, was stationed in Gulfport. No word yet via his family in Iowa. Prayers would be appreciated.

Thanks! - TB

Yes, my guess is that what you call is Arubi section is dumping its above sea level water load through the breach in the levee down to the sea level navigation channel. It seems from the pic, that the water is up to the top of the levees in Arubi.

Biloxi and Slidell got laid to waste. I do not think I accused you of exaggeration. If I did, apologies.

We currently have offers of aid from Vladimir Purin, Hugo Chavez (Venezuala) and Iran, posibly others I have not seen. Iran said "America rebuilt Bam, Iran will rebuild New Orleans."

I would regard that figure as unconfirmed. I believe the capacity of the Superdome is 72,000.

You don't even issue a courtesy post to the person you are slamming.

I'd say it's you that needs to chill.

but, why not move in some old Navy ships or cruise ships and use as floating evatuation centers??? they have kitchens, medical facilities, rooms, etc...

Someone mentioned on one of the older threads they were trying to do just that... I think it was TomKat?

NPR is airing an interview with a Coast Guard helicopter pilot. He said Pascagoula (sp?) is devestated, just gone

Yeah, and the bridge between Biloxi and the city on the other side--the name of the town escapes me--is gone. Nothing left but the support. Houses have just vanished. One woman clung to an oak tree for three hours after her house was swept away.

Listen, if they want to carp about me, they are a year or two too late to join that complaint line; there are already people on the waiting list and they will just have to wait their turn for an official "audience" with me to get my attention long enough to let me know about how little they like me.

In short, they should TAKE A NUMBER.
