The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.

The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...

Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

They need to pull school buses and any other buses in the neighboring area not effected by this storm and start busing people out of there

If the roads weren't flooded or destroyed that might be an option.

God helps those who help themselves

Not exactly

Mat 25:41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

Mary Landrieu keeps harping on that subject, too... can anyone say don't build in a wetland area and try to control mother nature and then blame the government when it all goes awry.

He meant 4 weeks on top of the 8 weeks they had planned before the latest failures. IF everything goes after plan and the water starts receding (which it won't).

I thought that they were going to evacuate them out of the SD????

Yes, but not for a few days more. With no toilets since this morning, mind you.

Randomness. Inconsistency in current. Wave heights. And possibly some construction reasons. The Hwy. 90 bridge between Ocean Springs and Biloxi lost almost all the spans on both ends, but about the middle 1/3 was still present, and some of the spans there were askew.

Each span will act independently. If force is applied that exceeds the forces holding the span in place, it will move. The force applied to the spans is not uniform.

I know that's simplistic. But that's the way it works.

< Caught red-handed, shamelessly filling up a cart with Walmart shoes. >

And she had the nerve to accuse the reporter of looting. He said, "I'm not looting". She said, "well, you're here". I guess she kinda had him, tho. He was trespassing. LOL. Unbelievable. It was sooo obvious that he caught her red handed. They weren't even just grabbing everything in sight, They were casually "shopping".

Oceanview.... Have you considered that they're undoubtedly working on it as you type? I rather doubt that the FEMA folks and the thousands of rescue workers are spending all their time standing in donut lines.

Hello,

Me,too. My husband & I have visited NO 12+ times, we view it as our 2nd home. This hurts, and I am in agony for what the good people of this city have lost. Family, friends, homes, neighborhoods, jobs, heritage, history.

Crying here, MOgirl

Well, the thing I noticed on nearly every video shown, was that they are mostly young teens.

Where are their parents, and why aren't the parents concerned about their kids running wild during a major catastrophe?

They act like it's perfectly reasonable for their kids to go out "looting", and they know damned well when BettyJo shows up with a $499.00 ring from Walmart, she didn't buy it.

It must be pitiful to exist like that. The looters have no concept of the bigger picture.

I was told by a friend with family that Bay St. Louis, MS alone will be many hundreds, there was rows of houses gone with no trace, and they were marking X's on the rubble where they found bodies, he said many hundreds, maybe thousands. usually a reliable source, could be embellished through the chain of communication. Pass Christian almost the same.

Without water, most of them will die first. The guy who had to cut his arm off to escape the canyon in Utah had to drink his own urine just to survive five days.

He said they have water and MRE's, just no functioning toilets.
