Hurricane Katrina Live Thread, Part VI
NOAA - NHC ^ | 28 August 2005 | NOAA - NHC

Posted on 08/28/2005 2:38:16 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.

Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

Many prayers for the people of New Orleans and the surrounding communities, it's going to be a very tense time.

Maybe she's mentally comparing this to the Black Sea flood of ~7,500 BC (the Black Sea was originally a freshwater lake). The sea is still there.

Yep... that would be a possibility I guess.

Pick a container; the one that flies or floats the farthest wins.

It was just two days ago that this storm was at 100 mph and precicted to turn north towards the Fla. Gulf Coast. The New Orleans scenario was first predicted yesterday at NOAA's 11am update.

Total BS. Check out the link, which document the Friday timeline, where the computer models honed in on LA by 2pm, the NHC made a big shift to a strike within 90 miles of New Orleans at 4pm, and the gov called a state of emergency at 8pm Friday.

The eye is still on track to go right over NO. 22 foot surge. So says WWL TV. A "weak" catogory 5 storm, 160-165 miles per hour.

The booze is a definite NO_NO...that's just a set up for violence. The cigarettes, who cares..except myabe they thought there might be fights about stuff like booze & cigs. I am sure it is not a health concern. the meds they are maybe checking so no one brings in drugs , again, that my be a prelude to out of control behavior. I am sure they must have insulin and basic meds at the dome.

Janice Dean is almost crying again.

And she doesn't seem to remember where the camera is - a basic no-no for weathercasters. In whose bed did Murdoch find her?
