Red River Shootout Renamed
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The annual football game between Oklahoma and Texas is no longer the Red River Shootout.
The game's sponsor SBC has renamed the event The Red River Rivalry.
The 100th game between the two teams will be held October 8th at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
"I think we can all agree on this" PING.
Next, they'll try to come for Raider Red's guns.
The don't call UF v. UGa TWLOCP but the fans do still. (TWLOCP = The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.) So if the fans like the Red River Shootout better that is what they will call it.

Methinks that SBC can call it whatever it wants...
but the people in Oklahoma and Texas will call it whatever they want!
Stupidity is right. On one of the message boards someone wrote that we won't be able to use the word Oklahoma in bowl games because it is an Indian word to show how dumb all this PC crap.
So it is no longer a shootout? What next?
It was the first opportunity of the season to get your date out of the dorm (The game was in Dallas) and away for a weekend of drunken debauchery.
I hear some people also went to the game.

Here in MA we used to have the Boston Garden, aka the garden, they tore it down and built the "fleet center" which has now changed names again, us die hards still call it the garden, old habits never die and like us these people will still refer to it as the shootout, I wish the PC bunch would just hang themselves, literally, kinda like Jonestown and the cool aid - mass suicide.
I'd laugh at your joke if I weren't so tempted to cry.....the pointy-headed elitists running my alma mater, Texas Tech, tried to remove the cotton bolls from the university seal a few months ago for what I suspect is precisely this reason.........the chancellor came close to being tarred and feathered (except instead of feathers, cotton would've been used).
How about the Red River of Blood?
Most of us still call it OU/Texas weekend.
Or the saddest weekend in Texas.
The old line is still true.
Someday OU will have a university that it's football team can be proud of.

My dream is to someday form my own professional sports team. The name would be "The (fill in city here)Indian Demon Devil Bullet Pirates" I hate PC. Just a quick story about this same thing that is ridiculous to the extreme. A couple of years ago, Nebraska Wesleyan University changed their sports mascot from the "Plainsmen" to the "Coyotes" because, get this, "PlainsMEN" seemed un PC because it excluded women. (and Im guessing that "Plainspersons" would not fit on the uniforms) PC=insanity. It will be the death of the US.
