A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~ Billie, Mama_Bear, Dansangel, Dutchess, Aquamarine ~

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

Do you cook?
If not this is a good recipe to start with. :)

Well, I can cook some things-but mainly I rely on my aunt and housekeeper to supplement what I don't get from having dinner out.

I go to regular restaurants, can barely stand most fast food places.

I do like White Castles, though. Go figure. LOL

Thank you for sharing this with us star. I AM SOOOOO VERY SORRY ABOUT THE DEATH OF YOUR FRIEND.

War is Hell... it is. Necessary & frustrating as it is. No matter how valid the cause, there are voids that will never be replaced.

I hope you can be of comfort to the family & share the thread with them.

God Bless you !!!!

Good Morning Dolly.

Star posted the thread for me ,so that I can print it and give it to his cousin, who is my coworker and friend.

She gave me permission to honor him here and what better place to show our respect to this true American Hero, that gave his ultimate sacrifice for his country and all of us.

God bless this hero and his family.

God bless our troops.

Thank you Aqua.........I don't need as many, or as often, but I still am taking the pain meds. I took 2 before I went to bed last night, and had only taken 2 all during the day and I've only had 1 today. Considering I'm allowed to have 2 every 4 hours, I think I'm dong pretty dang good :)

Thanks. That C-5 is definitely the big daddy. When they work on them at Warner-Robins AFB, they put the jet on jackstands. They do this to replace the landing gear, and then cycle the gear (repeatly extend and retract it) to make sure it works right. Walking around those jets on jackstands takes me back to my Navy days seeing ships in drydock.

I love the last pic, linked from the USAF's official website, because it gives you a good idea of the size of the C-5. It's very close to the length of a football field and the cockpit is 27 feet off the ground. What's really amazing to me is that this plane's top speed is 570 MPH!

That's good that you're so well taken care of. I wouldn't mind cooking so much if there was someone to clean it up afterwards.

I go to regular restaurants, can barely stand most fast food places. I do like White Castles, though. Go figure. LOL

Know what you mean, couldn't stomach another McDonalds hamburger, do like Sonic's burger when I'm in the mood for junk. lol

We have Krystals down here which are close to the same as White Castles.

Thank you Dolly for offering your condolences.

I know that they are looking to God for their comfort, because my coworker and I prayed together during lunch and all of the family is deeply religious,so they will find comfort in our Lord in this time of grieve.
