Doesn't Pres. Bush get to nominate Roberts' replacement as well? Kind of a two-fer.
To: pbrown
Not to worry...there will be others.

Yes they do actually. It is more distinctive in some places than others. I listen for ruf for roof, and Warshington for Washington. It is obvious in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Chicago, but I can tell an Iowa accent too, often. It just has a certain je ne sais qua. The UP in Michigan has a near Canadian accent. Detroiters have a certain flat quality that I cannot quite describe. Few sound like northeastern seaboard types, even those without much of an accent, like my Dad.
Where I fall down, is when it comes to the South. They all sound the same to me. I can't tell a Virginia accent from a Texas accent, and that's pathetic. But then I am a Yankee. :)

"I know NARAL Pro-Choice America has asked you for your financial support several times in the last few weeks, and the entire staff at NARAL Pro-Choice America thanks you for your generous support of our work. But the simple truth is anti-choice hardliners are pouring millions of dollars into this fight to pressure Senators to confirm a nominee hostile to Roe."

LOL... I wonder if these idiots, bleeding the Demodogs dry, realize that hard-line CONSERVATIVES like me are spending NO money now supporting our "senators".
this is rich... bleed 'em dry - weeks and weeks of it, NARAL!!!
Ya gotta love this!

It only takes a slight shift to overturn Stenberg v Carhart. You wait and see, that'll be a battlegorund. Roberts, presumptively would a vote to overturn while O'Connor would have maintained. A slight shift in the court and BABOOM, states can prohibit partial birth abortion. We'll see.

Hillary has to vote "yes" if she wants any shot at the South in a general election. But then, on the other hand, voting "yes" might upset her base and hurt her chances in the primaries.
Hmmm....quite a dilemma for Mrs. Clinton.
Hillary's "base" is so rabid that they'll forget all about it. They loved Bill and they're fanatic about her. She will appear "reasonable" and "centrist" with a "yes" vote and then come out like a hyena if there's a move to elevate Thomas/Scalia.
Remember, it takes many years for a "newbie" justice to make a mark...Roe won't be revisited for a long time...it's just a scare tactic of the Left. Hillary is out for Hillary...good point about the South...and I'd say all red states, as well.

"The 60 percent of Americans who want Roe v. Wade left alone will not be silent this time."Would that be the "60 percent" that voted for President Bush? or the "60 percent" that voted for JF Kerry? LOL They're screwy.
