Well, the rubber will meet the road when Stevens or Ginsberg go. That would have been Roberts was most needed. There really is no one else in his class, for that mission. (McConnell has some of the same qualities, but has written a bit too much as a professor, and in articles, and will be more vulnerable, when it comes to a major ideological tectonic SCOTUS shift moment.) I should have added that apparently Roberts is a person of immense personal charm, which will come through in the hearings. He will just be totally unborkable and demonizable.

And if Hillie votes yes, she avoids ticking off folks in Buffalo, whom she's gonna need to win re-election to the Senate. Wonder if that's occurred to the rest of the Dems yet, that she's gonna bail and leave them hanging.

You and I think alike...LOL...weren't fer nuthin' Bush made a big deal about Buffalo, Indiana and steel mills!!!

Miss M...we're thinkin' Hillary's gonna vote "yes" on this one....

Hatch said "crap" again? That's twice in one week, first on Tony Snow.

I bet not until after Labor Day. The Senate is in recess practically every week from now until then. And I am sure that Ralph Neas, Nan Aron, the NARAL crowd etc want all the time they can get to dig into crevasses for dirt.

And they all hang on to the words of Justice O'Connor that she will stay as long as needed. They could care less if she ever gets to spend time with her husband.

Roberts was born in Buffalo but raised in Indiana. When he attended Harvard the hero worship accorded Ho Chi Minh did not set well with his midwest upbringing and supposedly sent him on a tack to starboard.

He was Bush's ultimate teflon coated silver bullet, and now he has "wasted" it.

There is always McConnell.

It's not just Dubya.

Frist, RNC chair (Mehlman?), Hastert, Hatch, ... all the GOP leaders are methodically terminating the Demodogs. They haven't stopped twitching, and are still energetic, but the D's life is over.

**Having Roberts go first will set the template for future nominees, and the confirmation process against Liberal opposition. 1 - 0 versus liberals is better than 0 - 1.**

I heard him too, not bad for a Democrat, I wish there are more of him but again from political point of view it is good that there are not many like him in the Democrat party because we have to work harder on beating them in elections.

Bush stated that Roberts grew up in Indiana in his introduction.

And did I hear correctly in my car...Roberts "worked in a meel" (mill)? That made me chuckle a little bit. Godspeed Mr. Roberts.

I thought Judge Roberts was extremely humble and very much a family man. Very respectful. I liked him

Me too, Salvation ! It almost appeared that he was choked up when he was talking.
