Its all going to come down to 'Does Edith Jones like Ruth's Chris and did she attend the Freedom Concert?' Here only saving grace may be if she sent a lobstergram.

Did you know Sean wrote a book?

A Judge's record is all we have to attempt to base a calculation of how they will rule in future. This is true of Clement, and this is true of Brown.

And, Clement has virtually no record of ruling on key issues. That's the problem.

We know where Edith Hollan Jones stands, though.

Sorry about that, forgot to turn off a tag in the above post. Lets try this again...

Chapter 272: Section 19 Procuring miscarriage

unlawfully administers to her, or advises or prescribes for her, or causes any poison, drug, medicine or other noxious thing to be taken by her or, with the like intent, unlawfully uses any instrument or other means whatever, or, with like intent, aids or assists therein, shall, if she dies in consequence thereof, be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not less than five nor more than twenty years; and, if she does not die in consequence thereof, by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than seven years and by a fine of not more than two thousand dollars.

Now, how does this law make abortion a felony in Mass?

You should not be calling Howlin a moron. I know Howlin, but I'd don't know you. I will refrain from calling you a name. You are wrong about Howlin.

Based on my federal court experience, her decisions look straight down the middle.

Wolfie, check out post 835 on this thread. Seems as if Clement might be good on drug war and 2nd Amendment issues.

Has the whiff of Souter about it, it does.

I've been assuring my Christian conservative comrades the past several weeks that Bush will not disappoint us.

And Clement, if she is the pick, may vindicate me in the end.

But it is surreal, given the Souter/O'Connor/Kennedy history, that we may find ourselves again trading nervous smiles and trying to reassure each other that she really is a conservative.

I based my support for her having read her curricul vitae and first impressions of her. We know she's a conservative. We know she's extremely bright. And, we know she has very strong character. What I don't know is how she would vote on social issues and her leanings on the massive inflow of illegal aliens.

You do not just push a button and whoosh change the judiciary. It takes a while, and it takes patience. Real pro-life conservatives are on the record as patient, and diligent and will be there for the big fights, but we are pragmatic and not going off half cocked. The fight has been long and hard and will continue, and we will win in the end. The reason we will back GOP is look at the alternative. I rest my case.

"Overturing Roe will restore the democratic process and end judiciary tyranny."

Sadly, I agree that may be the best course. Let each state have the freedom to decide for itself. Of course, our Founding Fathers would have amended the Constitution if any state legalized abortion, IMHO. Abortion was as unspeakable as satanism to them, I believe.

From the interactions with Hispanics that I have had, and my collegues are predominantly Hispanic, moral issues were among the chief reason some inclined to Democrats changed their vote.

This, imo, is where the rise in Hispanic and African American support came from. There is no dispute, for example, that gay marriage ranks as a high concern for the black community and may well have made a difference in Ohio where his support doubled from that community.

Sean wrote a book? That changes everything. I may now have to support a fillibuster by the democrats of Edith.

So why are you here? I am Republican, get over it.

Well, I am a CONSERVATIVE. If you're not, why are YOU here? If you are one, you should realize how important it is for Bush to keep his promise, do what conservatives elected him to do, and appoint a Scalia-like originalist the court.
