But it is surreal, given the Souter/O'Connor/Kennedy history, that we may find ourselves again trading nervous smiles and trying to reassure each other that she really is a conservative.

It's so unnecessary, is all I'm saying. There's a surfeit of good, conservative jurists available to pick from that wouldn't cause movement conservatives to shuffle their feet nervously and instigate the outbreak of old intra-party hostilities.
