Laura Ingraham gets buzz cut, still knock-out gorgeous [vanity]
www.lauraingraham.com ^ | T Minus 4

After her second round of chemo, Laura bowed to the inevitable and got a buzz cut and a wig named Wanda. It's typical that the hair loss kicks in about 2 weeks after the first treatment. I know because I had my sixth chemo yesterday.

I'm so jealous that she still is so beautiful without much hair! I'm 48 and reasonably attractive but me without hair is not something anyone would want to see, believe me :-)

FRiends are here for you! I love your "humor, dignity & resolve" self prescription...it is perfect.

I believe that when a crisis hits you, it's like being grazed by a freight train. Some, like you, start fighting right away to re-claim joys & laughs & wonders, even when they are still dazed and in pain. You are an inspiration T!

"The caption on her website says: The Posse - Jul 07, 2005 Lee, Patty, Felicia, James and Laura after Chemo Round 2."

I think:<
In the picture it's Lee Habib with his arm around Laura. James must be the one in the back row.
Lee is married with child. She refers to him as either Lee or Habib on air. Lee went to law school with Laura. Lee is a great compliment to Laura and has a great laugh, as someone mentioned.

I don't know squat about James. I recall Laura saying about her engagement and the cancer that she wasn't going to let this guy get away.

T, keep up the good fight!
Glad to see you're posting and going forward. My wife Anna is just a few weeks behind you. She just did her first shift of work since this whole mess broke about a month and a half ago. It went well.

For Anna, the friends at church and our family have become way more important to her than ever before. She tended to be a busy busy workaholic, so this is a welcome shift for me. Our church has had many BC survivors and is a great place to find comfort.

Good luck to both of you. My wife tried a wig but couldn't stand the itch. She went with a baseball cap. Our 14 year-old daughter bought her a California Angles cap (only Boston fans live here). When we asked why, she said "I thought Angles couldn't hurt".

I have a relative who began going through this year before last -- first surgery, then chemo, then radiation -- and kept homeschooling. The whole process took a little over a year. Her attitude been great. Don't know if I could do it, but then, I haven't had to.

I will have my 7th chemo on Tuesday. I took my daughter and my new wig with me to the salon for my buzz cut. I had the stylist first give me a mohawk. We took pics of the mohawk, then the buzz, and then me with my new wig. I emailed the photos to my family and friends. My grandkids now think Nanny is cool!

If I knew how to post the pics, I would. But this dog is too old for new tricks.

Her little dog - The Boogie - is the only dog I have ever met that cried real tears when he was sad. He also turned them on when Sheryl was talking me into keeping him. He turned them off as soon as I said “OK”.

In his book "Deep Survival" Laurence Gonzales talks about what it takes to be a survivor: Positive Mental Attitude. It helps enormously, he says.
Here's wishing abundant Positive Mental Attitude to Laura, yourself, and all the other folks mentioned here who are fighting cancer. You can do it.

Sheryl's hair thinned to the point that it was looking very scraggy, with her scalp showing through in places. It was time to cut her hair.

I know what you're talking about. You handled the haircut with great courage! I have an odd shaped skull and if I lost my hair it'd cause my wife more despair than she's going through already! Plus she really likes my hair so I can't do what you did. But it was a noble act and I commend you for it! and I'm very sorry for your loss.

In the pic Laura hasn't reached that "scraggy" stage. My wife Anna has had the hardest time, not with the chemo, but the hair loss. I keep telling her that her wig looks great but she complains it itches and gets crooked at times. I told her we'll have a signal. If her wig gets crooked, I'll place two fingers on my forehead to let her know. She liked that alot and laughs about it and tells her friends.

Accepting this condition without getting down on yourself is really important.
Yesterday Anna said to me, "It's a good thing we're souls." When the physical starts to fail, you understand her insight. Inner beauty is where all true beauty eminates from...the soul.

God bless you all!

1stFreedom,

I know you aren't trying to be intentionally thoughtless or cruel, but this thread is neither the time nor the place.

You should take a few things into account:

1.) She is probably in the process of undergoing chemo. Note the IV.

2.) She has a Patient ID tag on her wrist.

3.) She cut most of her hair off, a big step for any women who has had long hair. She probably hasn't had it that short since she was a kid.

4.) She has a potentially fatal condition. She does not know if she will live six months or sixty years. No matter how upbeat and positive you are, that has it's effect on you.

For all you know, she might have been in the bathroom getting sick minutes before this picture was taken. So give it a break. Start a new vanity titled "Babes of the Right versus Babes of the Left" or whatever you think fits.

On a related note: If I were single, I might not mind recreationally bedding some of those babes of the left, but I would never, ever want to live with one unless I were taking it on as a rework project. A beautiful person with a flawed mind will never be as rewarding as a physically flawed person with a beautiful mind, unless your idea of "reward" is a one night stand with a minimum of conversation.

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to bad hair days with my own hair again.

I'm praying for many, many of those days in your future, and some good hair days, as well.

I've given up on having good hair days. If one hasn't happened by now, it's not going to.
