Very few overweight women happy

LONDON, June 30 (UPI) -- Only 1 percent of overweight women in a British survey said they are happy with their shape, blaming the celebrity culture for their attitude.

Of the 4,000 overweight women questioned by the National Slimming Survey, 83 percent said they suffered from deep "self-loathing". Some 91 percent felt depressed and 79 percent said they felt "utter despair."

Two-thirds of overweight women said they have felt like "life is not worth living," Sky News reported.

The survey also said 74 percent admitted to hiding food in their bedroom, car, garage or garden. About half of respondents removed size labels from clothing.

Among 1,000 men questioned in the same survey, 94 percent said they felt "like second-class citizens."

"I suppose the metrosexuals have started to make some men a bit self conscious though."

You can't tell in that picture if two of those women are wearing bottoms.

The metrosexual diet is for guys who want to appear like they're enjoying pork but not actually bite the sausage.

I don't consider fat men actors as distinguished. I look at them and I see sweat and smell...and I feel sorry for them. They all have bad knees too....
That's another thing that really bothers me about most fat people.....their health....it costs us all.

You may not but dominant society does. I think it's a part of the differences between men and woman. Women will forever have the burden of maintaining their appearance. It's a double standard imho but it's a fact of life I think. My mom has already lectured me about looking good for my husband and waking up before he does so he doesn't wake up to a horrible looking wife.

I've gone from a size 3, 11 years ago to a size 10. I am aiming for size 6 eventually. I eat healthy and try to workout, but it's not easy to lose weight after having five children.

Why is it that fat male actors can be looked at as being distinguished but fat, female actresses are made fun of?

Because you guys ignore all the people that prefer women that aren't shaped like little boys ;-p

Honestly, I sometimes wonder if women are genetically predisposed to look for problems to have.

OMG....my mother would never say anything like that. You're an equal...not a 'doll'.
You are definetly right about the double standard....it's because men are all about the 'visual' and 'physical'......and that's why they always look for the younger women. I consider it perpetual immaturity.

I agree with you. I think it's a female flaw, a root of something sinful that goes back to the Bible. It's not Godly to whine but you know us women we can't help ourselves :-) Thankfully, the guy I'm with likes my size just the way it is and doesn't want me to lose weight.

That's why I want to lose weight now before I get married. I hear that from every woman.

Over the years of casual observation in conveiince, I've seen a strong correlation between Coke, Doritos and morbid obesity.

My mom is old fashioned. She came up to me the other day and said we have to talk about how you're going to take care of your future husband *LOL* I don't think men can help themselves when looking at younger girls. Men and women are definately different!

You can relax... he'll be horny anyway, no matter when or how you wake up, even if you have bed-hair. It's him, with bed hair and morning breath, standing there scratching himself, that is sometimes hard to ~love~ ;~D

Just remember there is sloppy fat and there's voluptuous. (you fall in the latter category. :-) ) The guys I know like voluptuous women. (my husband chases me around even more when I'm pregnant. lol.) In order to get back to a size 3 I would have to get rid of my hips and bust. I have started working out witha silly FitTV show called Bodies in Motion. But, it's not dull and it works the whole body.
