I'm having a hard time believing the approval rate for Georgia and South Carolina. There is no way the approval for those two states is less than 50%. The only way that could be is if they are over-polling Atlanta and other urban areas of South Carolina.

So for the most part, the red states got a bit redder and the blue states got a bit bluer. Notable exceptions - Oklahoma (WTF!) and also, Mass and MD (on a positive note).

Probably the Yucca Mountain thing, or maybe Harry Reid getting a lot of local presss talking down the President.

What's up with Oklahoma, NC and Texas? No way they should be anywhere near that close.

I worry about the 40% of voters in Ohio who approve of Bush even after the Ohio Republican Party's involvement in the Coingate scandal has been admitted, and the 37% of Californians who approve of Bush even after Duke Cunningham's shenanigans have been exposed with no resignation demand from either Bush or Arnold.

What's wrong with those people?

Bogus poll, as usual:

Texas 50% Approve 47% disapprove. This is just impossible unless they sampled Democrats to Republicans like 2:1

Trust me, it isn't. I'm from Georgia and they ARE polling Atlanta per se. Support for him is strong in this state.

To be honest, Bush one re-election for one reason.

His opponent was John Kerry. In the broader sense of politics, Bush should have been at a disadvantage last year, and for a short period, he did trail.

What led to his successful re-election was that his opponent was believed to be a dishonest version of Micheal Dukakis, and that's it. If Bush had been facing someone who was precieved as moderate, my honest belief is, he would have lost the election, because thats what every historical precedent basically dictated, not to mention, on many issues, Bush trailed Kerry with the public at large. Bush's big advantages, were personal advantages, the public liked him as a person more then they liked Kerry as a person, and in general, thats what will always decide the votes of the mushy middle.

Also, the whole Swift Boat incident helped kill Kerry, because they portrayed him as a sniveling little s**t unworthy to be President, which in fact, was an accurate representation of reality.

Well I must say this is quite a revelation.

The Swift Boats killed it for Kerry. Just one 527 did it in for him. Let me see. MoveOn.org, hundreds of millions of dollars in countless other 527's, George Soros, the main stream media, countless books released in 2004 alone, Michael Moore's movie and countless digs by Hollywood leftists against Bush but all this effort by the left still couldn't help Kerry because of one right wing 527?

What was the message of the swift-boat vets again...

Oh yea, the fact that Kerry, while he was a "protestor", in his act of "throwing away medals" made sure to throw away someone elses by keeping his own.

That was an issue of character, and the main problem people had with Kerry was that it seemed that he was deficient in character.

Never take an election as an endorsement of what you're doing, that every voter in the country is enamored with your policies and thats why they voted how they did.

More often than not, for the average American who doesn't really read into politics, their vote often comes down to who they percieve as the lesser evil, most of the time anyway.

Maybe you missed my point, I believe I understood yours both times.

Bush endured about 500 attacks on his character versus the ONE attack by the swift-boat vets against Kerry's character. Just an observation by about 100% of the folks who voted for W. If Kerry or the likes of you are still whining about the swift-boat vets, I like many others on this forum would simply like remind you of this fact.
