Should start a poll as to in what Thread number the 'Polis' will have something concrete. Thread # 32: Aruban Polis manage to outsmart a 17 year old high school suspect seven months into case...

As far as vigilante justice goes, in reference to TOESPI, vigilante justice would be landing a Zodiac on the nearest deserted beach to JVDS's home and bringing him back to Alabama. With the speedy Aruban LE I figure a 5 to 6 man team could pull this off with minimum collateral damage. This is of course, if JVDS walks.

As you can see I have added some more things to the thread header. If you have something you would like added to the thread header, let me know and I will included it when a new thread is started. A new thread will be started when the posts reach about 2000+, but anyone may start a new thread if they like and they may use my header of links if they want to.

I have decided to stop pinging anyone - because I do not want to create and maintain a ping list. Someone else who posts regularly to the thread may offer to start a ping list.

I am asking that everyone either post just a link to the pictures they wish to share or reduce the size of the picture when you use the img src tag.

Just so you know.... if you reduce the size properties in the html, it still loads the original size image. A better way to reduce the size is to save it and downsize it yourself and post the small size. Putting in size properties does help the thread load better than not putting size parameters on it, but everyone is still loading the full size image. If that's what you are going to do, you might as well post it in full size.

I have to put in a good word for Greta. I'm no big fan of hers, but she IS doing a great job. She's reporting the news straight. Not many of her personal opinions creep into her reports. Probably because she is a human question machine, LOL.

She is extremely focused and hard-working. She's scored several terrific scoops. She doesn't walk all over the answers of the sometimes nervous folks she's interviewing.

Just think if the emotional, opinionated, drama queen Geraldo had been given this assignment.

Well, I really don't want to think about it, so I won't.

Oh no no no no no no no, for us there is no racism. For Us, we are citizens of the world. For Us, we are used to living with all kinds of people, unlike you Americans. For Us, we do not treat people differently based upon the color of their skin. For Us, this is immaterial, we are not cowboys.

UNCONFIRMED

Via SM:

This was posted on Riehl today.

This is what the latest we got from a reporter who is known on the island to get confidential info from his friends in the police department.
1. All three guys agreed they left JVDS and NH near the Marriot on that night.
2. JVDS testified that he and NH went for a swim and after that whey walked bak to the hotel, where he walked home and NH to Holiday Inn, which is just a few 100 meters away. Easiest if you walk on the beach, there is a walkway connecting all hotels from the beach area. He insists he left her there.
3. The DJ was suspected because he told an friend erlier that he was asked to use his boat (not the TATTOO) but a smaller vessel to dump something in the sea. That's why when inteviewed he said that he saw the guys leaving the girl at the HI, but when this story came apart, they arrested him the next day.

A Mother's Search
Thursday, June 23, 2005
By Greta Van Susteren

We have been "scrambling" for many days and we are pretty tired. The days are long — from about 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. — and sometimes we work until midnight. We don't stop when we say good-bye to you.

Last night after the show we went from the set at 11 p.m. to the beach — not for midnight sunbathing, but rather to the beach that the Dutch teen took Natalee Holloway (search) to on May 30. We wanted to see it — and see it at late night when Natalee was supposedly there. I suppose it would have been more accurate to make a trip there at about 1 a.m. — but we are so sleep deprived that midnight had to do. I could see no point in staying until 1 a.m. We shot some video (but of course it was dark) just in case we want to show it to you. I will need to look at it later today to see if it is helps you understand this investigation. It was obviously dark — but the light of the moon illuminated the area. In fact, what could be different about the conditions is not midnight vs. 1 a.m., but rather the type of moon on May 29 into May 30.

Our day today will start in a few minutes with chaos. We are staying on tonight and apparently the hotel is sold out. So, we start with a bit of a problem... our show needs at least three more rooms that we don't have. I hope I am not sleeping in the airport lounge tonight (it will be like college again!) We also can't change our airline plans to leave today in light of the hotel "issue"... it is too late... we missed the last flight that will get us to Washington, D.C. in time for tonight's show. And, of course we don't want to leave... we want to do more work here. Oh well, it will work out.

We have been combing this island for information and you know our cameras travel with us. It is now a joke among us (yes, we need some levity from time to time) is that the only thing we have not seen in daylight since arriving here days and days ago is the beach. We look at the beaches as we drive along the road and talk about them — but that is as far as it goes. The beaches are beautiful here.

Yesterday, as you know, we went to the home of the parents of the Dutch teen who is in custody. We showed you about 10 minutes of our interview last night and we have about 30 more minutes of tape. The total tape is about 40 minutes. We hope to show you more of the interview tonight, plus the other tape we have that has not yet been shown.

I have posted several pictures today on the blog — I want you to see more of this story and how we cover it. If you watched last night, you know that we spent our day — when we were not at the Dutch teen's home — with Natalee's mother. She was going door to door about her daughter. Everyone — and I mean everyone — on the island knew who Natalee is, even the young children we met on the street. And yes, Beth is still holding out hope for that clue where her daughter is.

I am hoping to leave tomorrow morning so that I can go home and sleep... but there is a chance I could be back in Aruba (search) on Monday. It will depend on whether there is more we can find out by me being here.

Natalee Holloway a wòrdu asesiná ?

Latest developments in Aruba (Thursday): AweMeinta reported today that the investigation has reached a 'deadlock'. The Aruba media is also reporting the same. Apparently there aren’t new leads to follow and the Aruban authorities are searching in the dark. Hasibokos.com has learned that the authorities are putting a lot of pressure on the four suspects who are now in custody right now. They are trying to get more information out of them, but this has not (yet) resulted in new leads. Hopefully the arrival of the search team from Texas will give new perspective on this case, cause if we summarize what the Aruban media is reporting right now: ' The investigation is STALLED'

Okay, and thanks. Interesting thinking going on at Fox right now. They think the FBI helped Aruban LE with forensics and probably with deleted computer files/emails. Armed with that, they arrested Papa v.d. S. and now can really apply pressure on Joran. Good news, and I feel much better now about the FBI scaling back efforts there. If they helped give the LE enough information to nail this down, they could go home and let the Aruban LE take credit for solving this. Fair enough, national pride restored, etc.. Of course, no sign of N yet, but we're still praying.

Does anyone have any pics of Mariaine Croes of the Aruba Prosecutor's Office? I tried Google images but didn't find anything. Am I the only one that thinks she has that hot naughty librarian look? The pink shirt she has on tonight really works well for her.

I'm getting so tired of reading about how Natalie may have been snatched somewhere by nefarious slave traders, drugged and bound, put in a speed boat, and then transferred to another island from which she will be circulated somewhere in south or central America as a prostitute doomed to walk the earth without ever returning to her homeland.

While not beyond some remote possibility, this theory is the stuff of black and white 1940's "Shanghai" movies starring Alan Ladd.

I think we now know enough to say very generally that she and the Dutch boy were on that beach late at night and something bad happened. And probably others, perhaps Father Paulus, had a hand in disposing of the body.

While I hope the slave trade story is correct, I personally find it to be a hook that many loving people are hanging on to in the hopes Natalee is still alive. And no rational person would purposely deny any one the emotion of hope.

However, in reality, while Aruba may be a transport center for the drug trade, I've never heard about any numbers of female tourists being snatched there on the spur of the moment to be sold in a slave trade industry flourishing and operating out of this tiny island.

The town gossip..... yes that's what everyone knew her as, the "town gossip". She was curious about every family's problems.

Then one cold January evening when I was 13 years old, my father jumped to his death from a bridge. My family was unlucky enough to have the "town gossip" living right across the road from us. The very next morning.... bright and early and bitterly cold, the "town gossip" found it oddly necessary to traipse across the road to question my broken-hearted mother on the details she was unfortunate not to find in the local morning paper. It was disgusting and very, very sad for my mother.

There are a few of those "town gossips" on this thread, if I may say so, the kind of people who have not enough in their lives, they must spend a great deal of their time on threads such as these.

Darn, how would the world be without "town gossips" howling and speculating about others' unfortunate situations.

This world would be better if the "town gossips" would go read a good book.

Am I the only person on the planet who finds this story waaaaaaay to over-covered by National News? Seems to me that there is a trend going on that started with Princess Di's death, that dead, murdered or missing (good looking people) have become the most important events to cover by the National news media, and that include our beloved FOX. A few of the others that have captured national attention: Lacy Peterson, Elizibeth Smart.
Forgive me if I seem crass, I realise this is a tragedy for her family and friends, but does this story really desearve the attention it's getting? There are news teams that were flown to this tiny island, so they can give live up to the minute coverage 24-7? How many not-so-beautiful people are murdered or go missing each day, with no more than a little spot in theirlocal newspaper.
The endless coverage has made tire of the news.
