Oops. Missed that you listed the DTUncovered website. I wonder why they list different conclusions on the two sites? Fielding was a finalist on the one site, but that site pegged Buchanan as most likely.

"It's not something that you would forget. That's like a veteran forgetting that there was a war."

You've obviously never dealt with anyone who has Alzheimers. Reagan forgot he was president. Alzheimers victims don't know their own immediate family and loved ones.

Rush Limbaugh commented how it was odd that CNN would spend one hour discussing this "news" today. He didn't seem too impressed.

"Woodward and Bernstein" have issued a statement that they will neither confirm nor deny the identity until the person dies.

And then we can do this all over again as "breaking" news.

First, as the #2 guy at the FBI which was investigating Watergate, I don't know that you can say he didn't know about the tape system, and he only needed to be able to learn of all of this information-- not hear it first hand.

But, fine, just keep thinking it's Rehnquist. When Felt dies and Woodstein confirms it was he, then you can just pull up this thread and say I was right. If they don't then, I'll do the same.

"Regarding CRP, James Mann noted that "FBI officials, in their investigations of Watergate, were collecting information about CRP and the White House."

The FBI had no warrant to wiretap the White House.

If the FBI knew of the gap on Nixon's secret tapes, then they were actively engaged in open treason.

You've obviously never thought this through. If he can't remember, then he can't confess.

You've probably never seen greedy relatives put words into the mouth of someone who can't speak, either.

hehe!

Rush Limbaugh counseled/advised folks that this was
NOT related to Linda Lovelace and "Deep Throat".

:)

It's not something that you would forget.

People with dementia forget all sorts of things, and become confused about others. My wife's grandfather was convinced he'd lost the farm, because he was no longer living on it I guess. That was 20 years ago, and the farm still belongs to my wife's father.

Grandpa was a very intelligent man. I keep a clipping out of the national magazine "Capper's Farmer" for May 1940, with a 1/2 page article about his innovations in hardening the edges of farm implements. Complete with picture.

How would you know about the gap on Nixon's tapes if you hadn't heard the tapes themselves?!

Even knowing about Nixon's secret taping system is questionable at that time for someone not intimate with Nixon...but knowing the tapes so well that you knew of the 18 second gap (out of thousands of hours) is stretching things a bit for someone who had no direct access to those tapes.

Fine. He forgot. Have it your way.

But tell me, if he "forgot," then how does he confess?!
