Los Angeles, Mexico - (Trujillo defends U.S. southwest's "right to secede!")

Immigration: While California's governor is accused of racism for advocating a secure border with Mexico, a Los Angeles billboard provides a revealing glimpse into the mind-set of those advocating open borders.

In a recent radio interview, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger committed a couple of faux pas (or however you say that in Spanish). First, he said the U.S. government was failing to secure the border with Mexico. Second, he said the Arizona Minutemen, a bunch of old men in lawn chairs, "have done a terrific job."

"Shameful" was the reaction of Nativo Lopez, state national president of the Mexican American Political Association. Schwarzenegger's comments, he said, were "nothing short of base racism."

The fact is that many Hispanic activists, Mexican citizens and perhaps even members of the Mexican government refuse to accept the legality of our 1845 annexation of Texas, the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo after the Mexican-American War, or the 1852 Gadsden Purchase.

One of these activists is Charles Trujillo, a professor at the University of New Mexico. He predicts a new, sovereign Hispanic nation within this century encompassing much of the American southwest and part of northern Mexico. States have the right to secede under our original Articles of Confederation, he contends, and this will be accomplished by the electoral pressure of future majority Hispanic populations in these states.

I don't have any problem with LA seceding. I'll even send it a bus ticket.

"States have the right to secede under our original Articles of Confederation"

This idiot needs to read up on history-the secession issue was decided in a war, as was the ownership of the American southwest.

States have the right to secede ...

While, in principle, I'd have to agree with him, I would also remind him that this has been tried before and it didn't work out particularly well the last time.

The professor is an idiot. The Articles of Confederation were defunct with the institution of the Constitution of the United States of America. Only Texas has any sort of claim to a right to secede.

A June 2002 Zogby poll found that the majority of Mexican citizens agree with him and hold the view that, since the Southwest U.S. really belongs to Mexico, they do not need permission to enter.

Just for the sake of discussion, let's agree with this.

The question, then, is "At what point (geographic line) do the Free Range Latinos depart the portion of the Southwest U.S. that really belongs to Mexico and enter the part of the U.S. that does not really belong to Mexico?".

Mexicans should admit the fact that California, New Mexico, and Arizona belongs to United States. The expansionism and imperialism of Mexico must be avoided in any way, including an invasion and influence of state level government by the large population of Mexicans in these states.

Not only was it decided in war, it was also bought and paid for.

Here's a thought if they think this is Mexican land, maybe Vincente would like to cough up the money for the operating budgets of those states, when he does, we'll talk about "seceding", maybe the states can bill him on that basis

am I right but didn't Mexico start a war and lose it,

hey don't do the crime if you can't do the time

So now the illegals aren't happy with invading our country
but now they want to get California back and Texas back etc etc etc.

Today I heard something that really disturbed me. The US Treasurer is hispanic and she said that our President, who is obsessed with social security AND Mexicans, said that he will give more social security benefits to mexicans that are poor if they support his program.

A BAD situation getting STRANGER!!

They started two wars and lost both. First time was when the "best general in the world after Napoleon" took on Sam Houston and a bunch of rag-tag amateurs. The second time was when the same idiot tried for a rematch once Texas joined the union.

We kicked Sata Anna's butt both times.

No, we don't. Texas has a pretty good argument (if it wants) that it was never validly admitted to the Union, but it has no special rights to secede if it was.
