Friday April 08, 2005 BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) A cameraman carrying CBS press credentials was detained in Iraq...
Pretty crafty, leaves open the possibility that the credentials were not legitimate. Forgeries perhaps? Hopefully someone will press the issue and make CBS admit they hired him. I honestly can't believe they are not very careful about who they issue credentials to.

Most likely he is an Iraqi citizen Even more likely some third country national. Jordanian and Lebanese seems popular for such support staff. Knowing CBS, he was probably Syrian. :)

Yes, I think that was a couple of weeks before the invasion in Kuwait, the soldier was a Muslim. An American, nevertheless.........
She did a lot of despicable things and should be in jail for treason, but that story is an urban legend.
Didn't know if that particular Fonda story was true or not....but you got my drift.
I still won't be shocked when more American's are caught helping terrorists, or becoming terrorists. IMO, based on past and current events I think you shouldn't either.....But that's just me..!! Ha!!

Why do troops under arrest have access to weapons?

If they shot him, shouldn't he be dead? Bad ammo. When you shoot people with "mouse guns", they often survive, particularly if they are wearing body armor that can't stop the round, but can slow it down and distort it. Unless of course you shoot them multiple times, or get lucky and hit something really vital, like the heart, liver or brain. Come to think of it, the brain of anyone working for CBS is likely to be a very difficult target because it's so small and surrounded by heavy bone.

Yeah, and he'd probably be lobbying for the anchor job. And if he survives, he'll probably get it. Either for CBS or Al Jazzera.

That's an ammo problem, not a caliber problem. There are plenty of 5.56s out there that will rip them to shreds. Our troops are stuck with super stable extra accurate 62 grain ammo that leaves icepick wounds too often. The old 55 grain higher velocity ammo out of the old slow twist barrels just tore folks up, as Stoner planned it to. Even in today's fast twist barrels, there is awesome "sintered metal" ammo which the JAGs don't let our men use, even though they are not banned hollow points. They also blow enemies up real good.

"insurgents go up to the reporters and ask them if they would like to come watch a shelling of US troops" Looks like an opportunity for our special ops.
Our guys pose as reporters to identify attackers, we send in an AC 130 for the party, and then we publicly credit a "reporter" as having warned us.
I just can't see how we lose under this scenario.

Doesn't matter whether he was on their side or not...if he was really shot by US troops then it was Bush's fault. And the people involved will be Court marshalled...
Hell, the aren't even allowed to shoot the ENEMY, much less that poor innocent reporter.

Do you recall the Muslim cameraman that Michael Moore had working for him in Iraq?
I believe I have a photo of him in my files.
He was born in the ME but had lived in the USA - he also lived for quite a while with terrorist groups in Iraq.
Might be good to follow up as that appears to be a pattern used by our media in Iraq - get the blood on video - no matter how.
After all, journalists are just unbiased "neutral" observers........ according to our patriotic American news honchos.......

The cameraman suffered minor injuries Definitely need to get rid of the Mouse Guns. At least upgrade them to 6.8mm or something similar.
Notice that the CBS story does not mention the incriminating evidence found in the scrote's camera.

The only other thing I've heard about this cameraman is that he was working as an independent and that he was standing very closely to the terrorists / insurgents / whatever they are. Perhaps in addition to investigating his background, someone looked at the footage he was shooting, and saw that he was filming the artful work of the insurgents in a way that magnified their goal.
