Special Alert: Call Your Senators Toll-Free Wednesday And Thursday
American Family Association | 04-06-2005 | Don Wildmon

EXCERPTED from EMail:

The most important vote in Congress this session will be coming up soon. The Senate will vote to both abide by the Constitution and require a simple majority to end a filibuster, or to require 60 votes to end a filibuster as liberals desire.

Call your Senators today. Tell them you want them to vote to end a filibuster by a simple majority as the Constitution requires. Should the Senate fail to conform to the Constitution's rule of a simple majority, a minority of 40 liberal Senators can use the filibuster to force their agenda on every American.

The toll-free number is 1-877-762-8762. Ask to speak with your Senator. When finished leaving your message, call your other Senator.

It's only valid on April 6th and 7th, 2005

Hopefully that means we won't be wasting anymore bandwidth

Thanks for the re-ping with the correct number. Yesterday it did work but today the ones who want the filibuster to continue are using it! Then they give you another number to call which is not free.

Please ping your lists. Here is a correct TOLL FREE NUMBER:

1-877-762-8762

FYI...one of the purposes of these calls is to support the Free Republic March for Justice which is happening today in DC! Many who could not attend can help the cause through these phonecalls!

Since you have told us many times that you think this thread is a 'waste of bandwidth'....please consider not wasting any more bandwidth with your cynical message.

However Paul51....you are creating a lot of BUMPs....which is helpful....(smile)

I'll call my two GA Senators, Isakson and Chambliss. They are on record of supporting the vote to end filibusters.

I would find it much more enjoyable and rewarding to call a democrat Senator and voice my displeasure at their actions. Calling my two Republican Senators is sort of like preaching to the choir.

"Hopefully that means we won't be wasting anymore bandwidth."

Sez you. If the measly few K that this thread uses hurts your throughput, then it sounds like you need to upgrade from your dialup account.

If you deem this effort unworthy, then what is your recommended course of action? Do you even have one? Or are you just complaining with nothing better to suggest?

what better way to "use bandwidth" on FR than to pass on this info, make the calls, do this little thing?

though this might remind anyone who hasn't donated to FR to do so.

These phone calls support the FR March for Justice in DC today.

Please ping your lists to call their Senators and ask them to stop the filibuster against the judicial nominees.

The fulibuater is disenfranchising the senators who want to follow the Constitution and give their 'advise & consent' in an up or down simple majority vote as the Constitution requires.

Call here and ask for the office of your senators:

Right -- in fact, there is great need to oppose the liberal senators, to let them KNOW we do, every way we can, every time we can. And the comments we get are priceless, a wonderful window on how they're thinking!

I called John Breaux, D LA twice during impeachment to complain about his comments to the press about how "There was nothing new going on, I was falling asleep."
I was quite irate, and told his aide I expected better from him -- not my senator, but still the whole country needed the best effort from each person.

I got a very position response from Cornyn's office in favor of the vote and no response on Hutchinson's position. Did you get a feel for how she will vote?

I also took the time to call Lamar Smith, my congresscritter on his position on "activist judges" and his staff member assured me that the congresscritter "supported vigorous oversight".

I asked him what that meant and he said he couldn't go any further than what Smith had said. It must be nice to be able to say something that means nothing.

Oh wait, I can do the same. I plan on a trip to the moon next month....

The radical left Dems can't get their power back at the ballot box, so they are ruling through the courts.

Call your U.S. senators at toll-free #, and if the line is busy, call them at their individuals numbers. But please call.

See very first post on this thread for details.

I didn't get hold of Cornyn himself, but his aid told me that Cornyn believes
that ALL judicial nominees deserve an up or down vote! :)

I couldn't get through to Hutchison either. I asked the lady if she could tell
me Hutchison's position on Democrat filibustering of judicial nominations.
She forwarded to "someone that has that information", but I got Michael
Droback's answering machine (whoever that is). I didn't leave a message.

Check out my post regarding Cornyn on #46:

I have done research and the only nominee that the Republicans filibustered was Abe Fortras way back in 1968, Lyndon Johnson's nominee for Cheif Justice of the Supreme Court.

President Bush ALONE had umpteen of his nominees filibustered by the liberal Dems.

No dupe, here. American Family Association sent out email stating that the 866 number would be good for the 6th and 7th. When I found that this was not the case, I called and spoke with them. They have been beseiged with calls, this morning because, as it turns out, this change happened without their knowledge. It seems that somebody changed the game plan, and they do not yet know who.

So, my profuse apologies for the seeming bait-and-switch -- it was completely beyond my control. Also, kudos and many thanks to heads-up FReeper JulieRNR21 for getting a working number posted, and to the Admin for correcting my original post.

When this all shakes out, we may find that there were dirty dealings at the root of it and we may not, so I'll hold my fire until we know. But I'm keeping my powder dry and my lead handy just the same.
