EXCERPTED from EMail:

The most important vote in Congress this session will be coming up soon. The Senate will vote to both abide by the Constitution and require a simple majority to end a filibuster, or to require 60 votes to end a filibuster as liberals desire.

Call your Senators today. Tell them you want them to vote to end a filibuster by a simple majority as the Constitution requires. Should the Senate fail to conform to the Constitution's rule of a simple majority, a minority of 40 liberal Senators can use the filibuster to force their agenda on every American.

The toll-free number is 1-877-762-8762. Ask to speak with your Senator. When finished leaving your message, call your other Senator.

But, what if your senators are morons (Washington State)?

Dude!  Well, then you should call and tell them that you're, like, a long-time Dem from Seattle and you want them to vote to let a simple majority break a filibuster because, ya know, that will let GWB get his judicial nominations through and then that will help the GOP torpedo themselves because, like, everyone will wake up to how, like, totally evil and un-American the GOP really are and they'll all vote Democrat next election.  But if the Senate, like, keeps up this filibuster stuff, then the GOP can totally continue to foment their evil behind the scenes as they have for the last forty years and they'll keep getting reelected because, like, Americans won't be able to see their evil for themselves.

So, the filibusters just totally have to be able to be ended by a simple majority vote so, like, the GOP evil can be totally exposed and exorcised.  Okay?

I've given up on the U.S. Senate. It's become obvious the GOP senators cannot lead.

My senator, Bill Frist, thinks the can run for president when he can't stand up to the likes of Ted Kennedy, Chucky Schumer, et al? I'm supposed to believe he'll fight terrorist?

Well, it was great while it lasted but the control over Congress by the GOP is going bye-bye along with the White House. G.W. is making the same mistakes his father made and it's worse now that he's in his second term. He won't listen to the base of the party on immigration, spending, appointments (i.e. Norm Minetta) and other issues.

Mark Levin said on his show today what I've been thinking for awhile: if the GOP in the House and Senate are going to act like Democrats then we might as well put real Democrats into office. Seriously, it can't get much worse.

You bet. And I appreciate the comment and bumps on this thread.

I know BOTH of my Senators will be behind this 100%.

I hope this helps in getting other Freepers to convince those Senators in other states. :)

Give 'em he**! :)

I am sick to DEATH over this BS.

Check THIS out. A recent speech (2-17-2005) by John Cornyn (R-Texas):

(Texas Senator John Cornyn's)
Floor Speech: Judicial Nominations

Excerpt:

So my question is, to whom is the distinguished Democratic leader [Harry Reid] referring? None of President Bush's nominees have been turned down by the Senate-- none, zero. The nominees he referred to were denied a vote altogether. In fact, all of these nominees would have been confirmed last Congress had majorities been allowed to govern as they have during the entire history of this country and the entire history of the Senate -- save and except for the time when Democrats chose to deny a majority the opportunity for an up-or-down vote.

So I would say, correcting the record, it is a little difficult to turn down a nominee, as the minority leader has said, if the nominee never gets an up-or-down vote on the Senate floor.

Now, the second part I would like to correct is that when the Democratic leader was asked whether obstruction would create a 60-vote threshold for all future judicial nominees, he said:

It's always been a 60-vote for judges. There is -- nothing change[d].

He said:

Go back many, many, many years. Go back decades and it's always been that way.

Well, we took his advice, and we did go back over the years.

It turns out it has not always been that way. Indeed, there has never, ever, ever been a refusal to permit an up-or-down vote with a bipartisan majority standing ready to confirm judges in the history of the Senate until these last 2 years. Many nominees have, in fact, been confirmed by a vote of less than 60 Senators.

In fact, the Senate has consistently confirmed judges who enjoyed a majority but not 60-vote support, including Clinton appointees Richard Paez, William Fletcher, and Susan Oki Mollway; and Carter appointees Abner Mikva and L.T. Senter.

I don't know.

I do know, the Senate receptionist/operator answered when I called and forwarded me to my Senators when I told them which one I wanted. :)

"The number may be toll free but my senators aren't worth my time to make a phone call."

Is the Constitution worth your time? Is getting Bush's nominees a vote worth your time?

Please reconsider.......every call is important because even if your senators are left wing nuts...they need to be told that many of their constitutents do not agree with them.

My senators and congressman know full well what I think of them. I'm surprised I haven't heard from federal marshals. As far as calling them to preserve the constitution....I don't think so.

"If any of you haven't done so, already, take advantage of this toll-free number to tell your Senator to vote to end the filibuster of judicial nominees. It's only valid on April 6th and 7th, 2005. Don't wait. Do it now, while you're thinking about it.

1-866-808-0065"

Here's our chance folks, to end judicial tyranny. PLEASE CALL!!

Do NOT give up, PLEASE.

The other side NEVER gives up, and neither does the devil.

This will help give the weaker Republicans some courage, and support the stronger ones.

Mark Levin doesn't give up.

Tell your friends to call, too.

Exactly......we must let the GOP senators know that we want action on this vote to stop the Dems from filibustering Bush's Judicial nominees.

Thank Santorum for stopping by to give support to the Schindlers and for his being a stand-up guy all around.

Spector as head of Senate Judiciary can be the most loved or the most hated man in America--his choice.
