Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
As far as I'm concerned, GWB isn't quite off the hook, but it's really his brother's job to do. It's Jeb's state.
Still, GWB *is* allowing Terri to die, isn't he?
Barney Frank is a.... well.. I'll just sit back and let God deal with him...
Did you know that the two judges in Atlanta who supported Terri were appointed by Ford and Clinton? None of the Reagan, Bush I, or Bush II judges supported Terri. So much for "conservative" judges.
I have no idea, just sharing the idea and hoping it can get back to the family.
Well as we have seen I don't think it would have mattered how many details were investigated since she was prejudiced in the case from the get go.
Jeb is going to have a lot of questions to answer.
Just remember though that these people who are saying that aren't privy to all the information Jeb has, and that he probably isn't free to disclose all the information he has. The Bushes have shown incredible tenacity for doing what is right no matter what it did to their ratings, and that gives me the confidence that there is a good reason why they have not acted beyond what they already have.
Do we judge a man on one incident, over all the good he has already done? If we do, woe is ALL of us. I think we need to look at a person's character proved over time, and then when they act (or don't act) in ways which we don't understand, we need to have a certain level of trust that they DO know what they're doing and that ARE choosing to do the right thing.
I hope and pray that the system isn't already so corrupt that the true perpetrators (Greer, M Schiavo, Felos, etc.) can't be brought to justice.
You two have got to be the cutest FReepers.
You would think that Barney Frank of all the congresscritters would understand why the family would be so upset about Terri's CIVIL rights being trampled on...
Why do I think that if she were GAY, he might have a different opinion---can you say, "hate crime"?
You guys know that in the bible it says that when the anti christ comes many will be deceived and think HE is Jesus....I think that by the polls we know who those folks may be, but i know one thing, it won't be any of us as we will be in heaven with the Lord.
and let the Dems fillibuster all they want.
Well, I'm working on him about the Heaven part! : ) He's a good guy. I haven't asked, but I believe he'd refuse to stand watch outside that hospice. I believe he'd do more than that, actually.
"I can't believe that there is any question whether we should starve a person to death."
Especially when that person is an innocent person, like Terri was.
It is a disgusting indecency, and whenever the states takes innocent life, it cheapens life.
Family supporters said Schiavos breathing became increasingly labored during the day. An attorney for the Schindlers, Barbara Weller, said hospice workers began giving morphine to Schiavo to ease pain brought on by her bodys failure.
this is just so sad.
I agree.
did you forget he signed the law that allowed starvation and dehydration? Look.. there comes a time when all of us must set aside our sweet illusions and face the ugly truth about those we formerly trusted... THIS is one of those times.. I mean, his brother just gave 20 million dollars of taxpayer money to the Palestinian gov't.. and shiny new warplanes to Pakistan.. let's face it.. these new bosses aren't much better than the old bosses...
I voted for Bush.. I once trusted and admired them both.. but that has been fading for awhile now.. this just puts the icing on the cake..
Jesus Christ! I thought she was "serene" and "beautiful." I also thought she couldn't feel any pain, due to her condition.
I was thinking this same thing. How strong he was after 9/11. He didn't give a hoot WHO thought what about him. He wasn't watching the polls. I was SO PROUD OF HIM. Amazing how fast things can change. It reminds me of Peter, who was said " Lord I will follow you to death", and yet cursed and " denied the Lord" to some little pheasant woman!! strange!!
starve me because I don't like tubes and cremate me because I don't like bugs.......
WOW!
How many people LIKE BUGS?
funny we don't only burry people who like bugs....
Well BykrBayb, I sure don't take my food for granted anymore. It tastes so very good.
"You two have got to be the cutest FReepers"
