An American soldier overseas is fuming over letters he received from Brooklyn middle-school children accusing GIs of destroying mosques and killing civilians in Iraq.
Pfc. Rob Jacobs of New Jersey said he was initially ecstatic to get a package of letters from sixth-graders at JHS 51 in Park Slope last month at his base 10 miles from the North Korea border.
That changed when he opened the envelope and found missives strewn with politically charged rhetoric, vicious accusations and demoralizing predictions that only a handful of soldiers would leave the Iraq war alive.

The letters were written as a social-studies assignment.

Sounds like a teachable moment. If a few GI's could be persuaded to write a few paragraphs about what's really going on in Iraq and send them back to the school with a copy to Fox News or someone who would actually run the story, the kids could get some real education.
Better yet get some returning soldiers to demand they get equal time in that class room. Have them share the stories of how they helped the people free themselves. Then one by one read the students letters outloud in front of their classmates and have these soldiers look them square in the eye and ask..." Do you still believe that?"
Ok, now I'm really pissed. WTH are these teachers getting paid with tax dollars to teach for? They're not teaching, they're indoctrinating. Thank God they're not all like this!
Not until you pinged me. And now I'm in a foul mood. Thanks. ;o)
I'd like to wring that teachers neck. Or something.
I am extremely glad this found its way into the news. It deserves a very long shelf life and much more exposure.
I'm stuned.
We have been discussing inexpensive ways to fast track kids through high school to avoid the liberal agenda and other idiocies:

Unfortunately my thread title was not well thought out, because some parents might instinctively skip over it due to attached stigma, whether real or imagined.
We're on it, T.
Us old soldiers have ways...and it's not nice what happens to folks who cross us.
Absolutely sick.
Wow. Yeah, really.
Private schools generally are much better on most social issues except one. Watch out for their agenda when it comes to the 2nd Amendment! Don't know where you are on the gun issue, but as a freeper, you should be aware that liberalism infestation is everywhere on this most critical issue. At the very least ALL sides should be presented for students to make up their own minds mirroring family values taught in the home, rather than implanted by some closet liberal.
That's the nature of public education, even in rural areas. Feminists and other socialist teachers are angry that their big government social programs, although continuing to get increases (numerous divorce industry offices to entice more women to divorce, put off marriage longer, etc.), are not increasing as much as they would under Democrats. Many Democrats are angry that we are spending large amounts of revenue to fund defense, instead.
And the socialist left is generally turning toward anti-Semitism (anti-"Zionism") and has issues with our USA protecting Israel. In the rural public school near us, students are not learning anything of the Holocaust, WWII or WWI. They know nothing of George Washington. They are taught some State history and some social studies (Indians in Canada, and the like), but that's about all that the best of the students (highest grades, highest assessment scores) remember.
This just pi$$es me off no end...when my hubby got back from Iraq, a neighbor boy took him for *show and tell*...hubby got a huge kick out of it and all the kids in class loved him and sent him thank you cards(which were hilarious)..
Obviouly a comminity filled with hate, sad,.....for the children.
Bump!
Sorry Star...but something needs to be done to raise the spirits of this soldier!!
Thank you...this made me cry!
