An American soldier overseas is fuming over letters he received from Brooklyn middle-school children accusing GIs of destroying mosques and killing civilians in Iraq.
Pfc. Rob Jacobs of New Jersey said he was initially ecstatic to get a package of letters from sixth-graders at JHS 51 in Park Slope last month at his base 10 miles from the North Korea border.
That changed when he opened the envelope and found missives strewn with politically charged rhetoric, vicious accusations and demoralizing predictions that only a handful of soldiers would leave the Iraq war alive.

The letters were written as a social-studies assignment.

This just infuriates me. We need to wrest control of elementary and secondary education out of the hands of the COMMUNISTS who run the teachers unions.

I suspect that the kids who wrote those foul letters were either mimicking their parents, or have parents who don't care what the heck the school does.

If Mr. O picks up this one, I predict the quote "Mr. Kunhardt is hiding under his desk, but we have _________ from ___________ on the show tonight to comment."

The JHS 51 teacher, Alex Kunhardt, did not return phone calls... Typical bully behavior. If the school found a student acting like this pussy teacher toward another student, they'd have a hissy fit. What are the odds this pansy is a NAMBLA scout?

I spent 10 minutes trying to conect the dots back to Park Slope school (jhs 51)...and it doesn't connect. I may missing the connection...but I'm wondering if someone sent that as a bogus package. Anyone else having better luck than me?
To: mewzilla
Time to FReep the school. Anybody got an address or phone number? I'm in Ohio and I don't mind the long distance charges.

These kids were doing just what they were told to do if they wanted to pass the class. These letters were just the teacher's views written many times.

What better example do we need than this to take strong action regarding those who teach and influence in our public schools? This is treachery..Using children who have not developed abstract thought enough yet to put together their own opinion gleaned from study and experience is just despicable. This is symbolic of a terrorist who shoves women and children out onto the front line of war to protect himself. The children are the front and I think something like this coming from our public school system should immediately gain vast public attention. A free nation cannot tolerate this kind of treason against it. Has anyone here ever heard of such a thing? This ratchets the standard of expected behavior down more than a notch. This must be confronted. Thanks for letting us know.

Where is Rod Serling when one needs him - he needs to introduce this particular episode of the Twilight Zone.

I'll see if I can find a link. FWIW, I think the paper may have misspelled the principal's name.

I STRONGLY agree.
I realize it's a bit like shoveling against the tide in these end times . . .
However, I think teachers responsible for such treason should be forced out of their public service jobs and away from any influence over any young groups of individuals. What hideocy.

"These letters were just the teacher's views "I agree. I think we have a teacher that is indoctrinating their class in these views. It needs to be investigated.

I agree. The students are definatly allowed to express their opinions but the teacher, who collected the letters, should have taken out the ones that are offensive. He should be held accountable. I'm all for mailing HIM a box of letters telling him he's worse than a turd.
