Just now on his radio show...says we taken over by fringe people
Right.... check this out. This is an explanation why FR is the BEST!
Anatomy of a Freeper...http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1303577/posts
For those of you who just stumble around Instapundit, Hugh Hewitt, Powerline or The Corner, and a couple of internet sites to get your dose of non-Ratherised news, you may not have ever heard of a "Freeper". In a minute, I'm going to use the following example to give you a window into their world.
Freepers are people who post to a rather interesting bulletin board service called Free Republic. A lot of my blogging friends know about them, but surprisingly enough, not very many of them view them as a news source they visit frequently. I think the Freepers are an essential element in gathering news. If you go in with the right mindset, and know what you are looking for, it can be a goldmine of information.
Hugh Hewitt has often called freepers the Coast Watchers of the new media. When news happens, either in print, on radio, or on television, someone will post a link, and much of the meat of the story, as the beginning of a thread. Within minutes, if the story is juicy enough, just like flies, freepers all over will descend on the story and give their two cents worth.
Here's where the discernment of the person surfing has to come in. There are saboteurs who will immediately try to spin the story, especially if it's political, and there will be people from every walk of life taking their shots until the end of the thread takes the original picture the story paints and turns it into a Picasso.
Rather's transgression was of a completely different character, and his transgression is what brought him down. FR was nothing but an agent to illuminate the transgression.
Hannity's comments reflect nothing more or less than picking friends and seeking commercial success. Certainly a big deal for those "friends" who feel slighted or slammed, but in the grand scheme of a million or so viewers, probably not a big deal. Heck, O'Reilly's ratings haven't tanked even in light of his disdain for the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
Why bother? Hannity is a half-wit who craves---absolutely craves---attention.
Don't give it to him.
Well now we know what has caused Hannity's mindless chatter. He hasn't been to FR in Two years
I don't want to bring him down..I just want him to know how pompous, small minded and unseemly it was for him to hit on us like that..in order to promote his own blog.
Hannity gets hammered here by some and he does not like it.
The irony is that he gets hammered for too much self promotion..(If the shoe fits, Sean.)
Many here have defended him and supported him for the good things he does...I think he has lost some of those great defenders with his little snit.
Hannity stayed safe in his studio. To my knowledge the closest he got was a near-site broadcast on the first year anniversary.
Hannity sucks off the military Hero tit, his concern for our brave troops dripping with sincerity. He's yet to go to Walter Reed or Bethesda and visit the wounded. Imus does.
Al Franken and Robin Williams gave up the Holidays with their families and flew into the war zone to visit the troops in Iraq. Hannity took his kids skiing.
I wouldn't consider myself a loyal listener. I would tune in if something was happening and he may have a guest with a good opinion. After Rush, Sean had little to add himself.
In the past, I would give Hannity a pass because he was making a buck. I'm reconsidering that now. Hannidate just pushed him over the line to pimp.
I guess he didn't learn any lessons from Rush. Rush thought he was part of the IN CROWD until he had problems. then they turned on him like jackals. But Rush's REAL friends stayed. Hannity apparently has to learn this lesson the hard way. But he doesn't have the residual good will Rush had.
Yep! Just have to have a little backbone and smarts to work out well here, especially backbone at times.
;-)
In your opinion, what's the chance of dear SeannieBoy bringing up this subject on today's show???
"Well now we know what has caused Hannity's mindless chatter. He hasn't been to FR in Two years"
LOL!
I won't be tuning in to find out.
Amid the howling:
1) do you realize what he is doing? he is giving us an insight into something really cool. The conservative movement is big enough to segment, divide, establish preferences and still maintain market momentum. That is all he is doing by plugging his website at the expense of FR.
2) he is admitting that FR is REALLY REALLY big. There are all types here
3) anyone who thinks that there are not PROMINENT wingnuts over here has never read FR. There are some real cretins within the conservative movement, and a place like FR that allows anyone to post attracts them like flies to dog poop.
4) Sean, like Rush, Tony Snow, Michael Savage, and most others, is IN THIS TO MAKE MONEY. That sometimes pushes you to do things that maybe you shouldn't have or maybe should have done another way. Sean is just trolling for business among the crowd of freepers who may have just disengaged from a particularly vicious thread, thinking "My God, who let the loonies out of the bin??!!" I know I have wondered, at times. Did he choose the best language to do so? Nah.
5) Some freepers are so thin skinned that they go nuclear at the slightest provocation. No dissent is tolerated. I remember the way Peggy Noonan was SAVAGED over here for disagreeing with the tone of the SOU addressed. That same mentality is displayed in this thread, and the people who are disgusted by it are the people Hannity is targeting. It is kinda like saying that if you don't want your home referred to as an insane asylum, then stop crazy aunt Jessica from screaming warnings about alien microbes to the passerbys from the front yard.
I have never been to hannity.com. This particular plug isn't likely to pull me over there.
He's doing fine on his own.
Hannity's summary of how we degrade, belittle and ridicule each other has been my experience too. My interests are changing.
you forgot...
6. Some of us have believed Hannity was a bloated tick on the conservative movement's ass for years----and we love brewing tempests in teapots in the interests of mocking him.
Okay, maybe it's just me.

Sorry, it was 1,000. My typo...
Unnnnngh is at 1250 or so right now.
No he isn't.
He's a very competitive guy who wants hannity.com to be the place where the next big headline is broken. He's seen the FR logo on the big screen and he sees an opportunity to compete. He's just a little over the top in how he competes, however.
If one is going to be degraded, belittled, or ridiculed on here or anywhere on the internet for that matter, they need to don thicker skin. The internet as a whole is not for the faint of heart.
I was just disappointed that no one with any views similar to mine showed up.
