Just now on his radio show...says we taken over by fringe people
I stopped listening to his radio show a few weeks ago. It was more commercials and self promotions than anything. I used to be an active member on his board but it really stunk. DUmmies invaded it all the time and there was constant fighting. Then I found this place and haven't gone back to his site since.
I'll explain it to all of you in simple terms, folks: radio talk-show hosts and other media personalities are actors. They are faking it. It's all schtick. They are not people "just like you and me" -- conservative working people who live in the world of paychecks and payments. They are entertainers -- people who make a lot of money for delivering audiences to sponsors. They are neither politicians nor true believers, and the only reason they seem to be "conservative" on the air is that most of the people who have the free time needed to listen to talk radio are middle-aged or older white men who tend to be cranks -- oops, I mean strongly opinionated in the rightward direction.
(Don't believe me? Check out the stuff advertised on talk radio: stay-hard cream, hair-loss tonic, weight-loss pills, dating-for-divorcees companies, and BUY GOLD GOLD GOLD FOR THE COMING WORLD COLLAPSE NOW! If pot-smoking black teenagers were the biggest talk radio audience out there you can bet your bottom dollar that you'd be listening to the liberal Pimp-Daddy Limbaugh show and the hash-huffing Street Dawgg Hannity program. Advertisers buy time on shows to which their potential customers listen.)
To reiterate: talk radio is all showbiz, folks, no more real than pro wrestling, so please stop being surprised each time one of your talk-show heroes is unmasked as a druggie or a Beltway suckup or Just Another Media Whore. Anyone who ever believed that Rush or Hannity (or Savage, or Hewitt, or you-name-it) is "in touch with the mainstream" of American life is fooling themselves. These are people who go to the Super Bowl every year, belong to Burning Tree, own yachts, know Senators, and never drive any car over a year old. They are not bad people, but they are people playing a role for money, and the sooner you talk radio fans realize that you don't get paid the big bucks for being yourself or telling the truth on radio and/or TV - you get paid for being able to post big ratings numbers so your network can charge maximum price to the makers of new StayHardPlus with Ejacu-Gard and Slim 'n' Fuzzy Weight-Loss/Hair Growth Tonic, the sooner the day will come when the tears stop flowing.
Sean really said that?
Okay I listen to Romey from now
Nice going Sean
Maybe you just jealous because your show is one one hour tape delay here in SO CAL YOu moron
Rush Limbaugh or even Jim Rome get better ratings
One thing that I noticed about Sean is that sometimes in order to seem more moderate he denounces his fellow rightwing freedom fighters. When Sean has a leftist guest on the ropes, he always refuses to deliver the knockout punch so as to seem more reasonable and not be labeled an extremist. Last night on his show for instance, he played Charlie Rangel's racist remarks about Bill Clinton, but failed to call Charlie a racist. He lets far too many leftists off of the hook when he should be snapping their necks like a chicken bone. Sean better wake up and realize that if a radical leftist that had him in a rear naked choke, Sean would be choked unconscious with no mercy shown to him whatsoever. Make no mistake about it either, Sean reads Free Republic everyday, just like he reads Drudge Report and Newsmax. These 3 sites are required reading upon awakening.
Wow, Leni, that really cuts to the heart of the matter. I agree with you 1,000%.
Anybody else notice the inordinate use of this word by trolls?
Click on the audio..he's pushing his site..He did say it..Pompous pontificating about freepers, how everyone he knows left. It was because of personal attacks and a fringe element. His site will not be taken over by the fringe he declares, just not going to happen.
"Free Republic is childish. Come to MY board instead". I really liked him a lot until now.
You and me both. I have defended him here many times, but today changed that. It was bad enough what he said but to softpedal to Rangel after that just ticked me off.
He talked about FR eating their own and turned right around, and as a Conservative, did the same thing.
Sean, you're dead to me now.
This from a person who has an "Iggles" decal on his home page...(g) Next year..NOT
Yes, he did. I have him on audiotape. He used the word "FREEPS" instead of "FREEPERS".
One of the last few times he was doing his radio show out of the Florida Mall, another FReeper and I were in the front row seats in the audience. I held a sign that said, "Freepers LOVE Hannity". He acknowledged us immediately and mentioned his friends, "the Freepers" on the air that day. Afterwards, when we were getting pictures taken and he was autographing my sign and his book, he said how much he loved some of the Freepers, but made it a point to tell me that there are a few Freepers who give the rest of us a bad name.
He, Rush, and many others like Brit Hume have given Free Republic a lot of good plugs. None of them deserve the bashings that they get from the fringe kooks that post on here. As far as I'm concerned, Hannity did us a favor - like Rush did in the past - and gave us a wake-up call today. I back him 100%.
Savage has been "savaging" Rush, Hannity, and lots of other more popular talk show hosts for quite a few months now in hopes of getting them to "notice" what he says and comment on it. The kooky fringe that listen to him pick up on his BS and then bring it here or in direct emails to Rush, Hannity, et.al.
In my opinion, Savage is a mentally unstable no-talent, no-class goof-ball. He reminds me of Al Frankin trying to gain fame and fortune on the backs of people with real talent.
Hannity has made remarks several times on his radio show about all the "phonies" in his business who no more believe the "conservative" stuff they are saying on the air than the man in the moon, and said that a lot of people would be shocked if they ever found out who some of them are. He seemed to have one specific talk show host in mind --especially -- and said that "one of these days" he was going to out him.
The first one I thought of when he said that, was Savage. I can smell RATS a mile away.
Since Hannity is the subject here...
Is it true he once said something on-air like "Abortion is not a very important conservative issue" ?
He could have kept his mouth shut on the subject. You know, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
Now that I listened to it...I realize he is right about some groups in here gangin up on people and attacking them over and over.
I did not hear Sean say what he is alleged to have said, but if he did bash us as reported, then I suspect he did so soley to draw people to his own blog/forum, which will put money in his pocket with every hit. Sean's number one goal on radio seems to be to sell himself, whether he is promoting his stupid books, his TV show, or his website, and negative publicity is better than no publicity at all as long as it puts money in his pocket. Chaching, chaching, chaching.
Sean, I've been to your board though its been awhile. You have "fringe" elements too. Every messeage board does unless you've narrowed down the vistors to a handful.
Maybe you lack understanding of the nature of messageboards. The fringe are not necessarily representative of the core of a board. To avoid a good board because they cannot all be weeded out would be a loss.
It's true sometimes our "own" are eaten. Isn't that what you have done by sweeping a broad stigma on the whole of those that post here? You're guilty of the same by that statement. Further, it's poor taste to promote your board at expense of another.
I will state that while people have called Sean thin skinned, Freepers are too. How many times has Sean been viciously attacked and ridiculed for the fun of it? He turns around and has a negative impression of the board and suddenly those that told him to grow a thick skin can't take it. Freepers that engaged in that conduct have to take some blame for his impression of the board as well.
A Big Bump
