A liberal - To the Republican community. Should we leave? [too DUmb to ZOT]

Posted on 02/13/2005 2:00:25 AM PST by The_Liberal Person

A liberal - To the Republican community.

1. What are your goals as Republicans?

2. Is your goal to make Liberals to leave America?

3. If you want us to stay, when does this country go too far to the right?

4. If you want us to leave, will the US government pay for our plane tickets?

And try to respond in a civil way, no teasing or bullying because it only reinforces some of the stereotypes liberals have about you.

Why is it our responsibility to make sure that libs' stereoptypes are not reinforced?

Seriously.

1. Not all conservatives are Republican. I am an Independant only because I believe in the individual, not the organization as to who to vote for. That being said I can never foresee voting for a Democrat, ever. In a two party system that means I am a Republican by practice if not name.
So, that being said my goal is to restore the balance of power at the Federal level by eliminating activist judges and ensuring the rights of the unborn.
2. Only a liberal would ask that question. Americans love their country and would never leave it for anywhere except for vacation. Read your history and repent.
3. That is a question that can be best explained by reading that pesky history. The intent of the founders should be sufficient. That "too far to the right" is where over 70% of your neighbors are.
4. The US government doesn't have any money. It doesn't make any money. It gets it's money from people who work and pay taxes. Read up on economics along with history.
I don't mind being civil. But you have been seriously damaged in your perception of what this country was founded on and what it means to be an American. This country will never be socialist or communist. It is founded by individuals that consent to be governed. That means we do not cede the rights to you or others who believe themselves superior.
The stereotypical red stater, Walmart shopper, high school graduate has the same inherent rights as one who lives in a high rise and went to Harvard. Can you grasp that? It doesn't mean that the strong can't dominate the weak. The smart can't dominate the uneducated. The wealthy cannot trample the poor. If it does happen, and in life it does, it doesn't mean the system is designed to allow it. It is an aberration.
The fact is, most liberals are now so far to the left they are fascists. Socialism didn't work in Russia, it didn't work in Germany, it didn't work in China. It won't work here.
We don't want you to leave. We just wish you would learn.

A whole lot of that going around. It's scary when you realize just how deep the conservative stereotype these people carry around goes. Btw, I'm married to a Democrat who also voted for Bush this last election. There was a lot of that going around.

You can't simply 'kick all the red people out of the blue states' and vice-versa. That just won't work.

There really shouldn't be the divide that exists, I believe it is fueled by a continued downward spiral of mud throwing politics that may be with us awhile, but this isn't the best forum to discuss liberal and conservative harmony. You are lucky to have made it this far without the viking kitties attacking.

I support Bush, but have a small fear someday my account may be deleted for not supporting the FR party line.

When we elect Pat Buchanan for his 12th presidential term.

Damn man, are we going to freeze dry the guy after the 3rd term or what?

Where to liberals fit in the Republican world?

A better question would be "How do liberals fit in..." and the answer would be to forsake your failed ideology and become a Conservative.

Then you'll feel much better.:-)

The reason liberals think Republicans(not conservatives in general) hate liberals is simply due to some of the rhetoric used by many very popular spokespersons for the party.

I'm not saying liberals don't have their extremes, but Republicans basically run the entire government now. So why as many Republicans still angree?

Stop listening to the rhetoric or, at the very least, recognize it for what it is. Glean the useful parts out (yes, even rhetoric contains useful elements) and drive on.

Also, what does the Republican utopia look like? I'm not against freedom or liberty. I don't want the government to give me free money, however I do expect the government to stop outsourcing jobs so I can make money and not have to beg the government for it. What is the Republican stance on outsourcing?

You're pretty much described it. It's a country that is as free as possible. Enough safeguards in place to protect people from each other, and that's it. Outsourcing is not a goal; it's a byproduct. It happens when another country is able to provide a service for less money than your country. This generally happens when the other country's standard of living is much lower, and/or there are less inhibitions on companies (taxes, etc.).

The best way to combat outsourcing is to lower the cost of doing business in our country. This lessens the difference in the comparitive costs of labor in the two countries, and thereby reduces the incentive to outsource.

I also asked how far right is too right, meaning do we want to get rid of all social programs, public schools, everything, or do we want to keep these things? If you get rid of these things then the economy has to be kicking all ass to support 300 million people with jobs. How do Republicans plan to protect our jobs? Is having jobs by the Republican philosophy a birth right and what happens to people who don't have jobs when there are no social programs?

Social programs are supposed to be about helping people, not perpetuating their own need for existence.

The goal is, in fact, to have the economy "kick all ass". You do this by lowering taxes. When you lower taxes, the economy kicks ass, people are able to make and keep more of their own money, and the need for most social programs goes away. The programs that remain can better be handled by private charities and private organizations.

Where to liberals fit in the Republican world?

Your remaining two paragraphs fit nicely into the sentence above.

As someone before me stated: Liberals are a good counter-balance to conservatives. My wife and I have different approaches to the same situations in life. If we were both alike in all things, we'd be really bored, and often, we'd end up making the wrong decisions.

Conservatives just generally believe that Liberals are wrong on the economy, defense of the nation, and their lack of moral standing.

Government isn't outsourcing jobs. Private companies are outsourcing jobs.

Looks like you answered your own question here, with your basic understanding of the default position.

I'm not against freedom or liberty.

Also, when you leave, can I have your stuff?

You had to expect a ribbing with this post. But since you took the time to respond in a civil manner, I'll offer my opinion. I don't think Balkanizing this country is in the lefts best interest. Think about that for before you start proposing we carve the country up. Good Luck.

I have been wanting to answer your four questions for a while now, but waited to see if you would respond to any first.

Since you finally did respond, and others have actually answered closely, to what I would have said, I'll simply tell you this.

I used to be a Democrat, NOT a liberal. I have no doubt I am much older than you, have followed politics since long before John F. Kennedy became President, therefore I have more experience than you.

I have watched the Democrat Party, the party of Jefferson, adopt the principals of Communism/Socialism, hence the term "liberalism,"

Now you, the liberals, are adopting the term "progressive," which, if you actually studied our history would tell you that "progressive," used in this sense, is nothing more than an early Twentieth Century name for Communism.

Read the Bill Of Rights, and the Constitution of the United States. We, the people are the government, not the elected officials in Washington, D.C.!

We, the people (including you) were granted freedom and rights by God, our Creator, our form of government is to protect these rights, not "grant" them.

I don't want you to leave this nation, but I would like for you to learn and understand that your party has become the Communist Party, which is anathema to what this country was built upon.

I have a liberal ex-friend (he abandoned me after the election) who complain about health care, actually telling me someone should pay for his doctor bills. My response is "Who me? So after I pay my wife and kids bills I should pay yours too?"

No response.

Then I ask why the state of Washington (where my liberal friend lives) doesn't just do it and show the rest of the country how well it would work. I go on to inform him the reason is every hypocondriact in the US would flock to Washington and every self supporting citizen would move to Texas (where I live) causing the state of Washington to go bankrupt.

The number of liberals stays the same or is shrinking while the moderates are turning conservative because you wont accept them.

You guys wont accept a pro-life, gun owning , Christian, union worker because you insult his gun owning, pro-life Christian ways and only want his union vote.

Liberals are the only party that opposes at least one of the Bill of Rights as party policy. Liberals are the ones who must disguise their label as progressive while conservatives tell you who they are.

Utopia, in Latin means nowhere.

The ideal and perfect place of Sir Thomas More's fictional book doesn't exist on this plane of existance, and folks that seek it are fools.
