CONGRESSMAN STEVE KING INTRODUCES RESOLUTION TO ELIMINATE IRS

WASHINGTON - As W-2s arrive in mailboxes this week, U.S. Congressman Steve King has introduced a resolution to repeal the 16th Amendment to the Constitution, which gives Congress the authority to collect income taxes.

H.J. Res. 16 would eliminate the IRS and the means for the government to collect income taxes.

"The IRS is an out-of-date, trillion-dollar-a-year drag on our economy," said King. "Instead of continuing to band-aid our complicated, leaking tax system year after year, we can choose a permanent solution and finally rid Americans of the fat leech they feed their paychecks to."

King has been a long-time supporter of the FairTax, a national sales tax placed on goods and services, which would replace the income tax.

H.J. Res. 16 must be approved by two-thirds of both the House and Senate, and then sent to the states, where three-fourths must ratify the amendment.

It can happen.

Many thousands of grassroots warriors across this land have been working towards this for many years.

In this most recent election, for the first time, the Democrats expended tens of millions of dollars directly attacking our FairTax congressmen and Senators, specifically on this issue.

Of the fifty-two they went after, only two lost...and they were in districts that already leaned Dem.

This is a winning issue, and the coalition that ends the income tax will govern this country for the next generation.

That coalition must be the Republican coalition.

A Taxreform bump for you all.

If you would like to be added to this ping list let me know.

Time to lay the groundwork so HJR16 has a fair shot at the brass ring.

Replace the income tax statutes with a viable alternative now, and remove any excuse for not repealing the 16th and prohibiting taxation of incomes.

John Linder in the House(HR25) & Saxby Chambliss Senate(S25), offer a comprehensive bill to kill all income and SS/Medicare payroll taxes outright, and provide a IRS free replacement in the form of a retail sales tax:

H.R.25
A bill to promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national retail sales tax to be administered primarily by the States.

And with a big name like Steven King behind it, how can you go wrong?

I loved "Pet Cemetary"!

Time to make the 'suggestion' into a DEMAND.

When the American people rise up and demand it, this will happen. Not before.

So, as it should be, it is up to US!

As much as I would love to see this bill come to pass, I don't think it stands a snowball's chance in Hades in making it all the day. I wish, but I am not hopeful.

Does anyone seriously think that 2/3 of congress will approve this?

Unfortunately, you are right. Until the GOP gets at least a 2/3 majority in BOTH houses, it ain't gonna happen. I am glad to see it getting some national attention though. We have to start somewhere.

Congressman Steve King is an old and dear friend of mine; and we spent many hours, many years back before he was ever elected to anything, sitting together and hashing out this issue.

My heartiest congratulations to you both my FRiend!

Now we must make it happen...

As you well know, for the last eleven years, I have devoted a great deal of my free time to promoting getting rid of the communist inspired income tax and replacing it with a NRST such as that described in currently pending HR-25/S-25. When we get that done repealing the 16th amendment will become a relatively simple task IMHO.

Wow! Certainly, at the very least, the time to get this on the table has come.

Discuss, debate, and DO something. If someone has a better proposal let's hear it.

I know very little about Rep. King, but he always seemed like a "stand-up guy" indeed.

Thanks for posting.

Steve King's? Oh, for sure...

Steve is someone we helped elect originally to the Iowa State Senate. He is absolutely one of the most solid and capable legislators I have ever know at any level of government.

We could not ask for a better man leading the fight on this, believe me.

I'm all for it.

hell, a simple "dime-on-a-dollar, no loopholes, no exceptions" income tax would do.

a national sales tax would be better.

The 16th Amendment was NEVER legal...2/3's of states must ratify any NEW amendment to our Constitution....only 3 states voted for the 16th amendment....why should we now have to repel it?

Why isn't the truth about this illegal amendment put forth...what's so hard about telling the truth....going through this process is ridiculous!!!
